  • zhangzk ha creado el nuevo tema » Baltimore Orioles‘ manager.Rain delayed the start en los foros.
SARASOTA Luke Appling Jersey , Fla. (AP) — The sun wasn’t shining on Brandon Hyde’s first workout as of workouts Wednesday for about an hour. But eventually, 15 pitchers threw bullpens and the Orioles rolled out some new cameras to help the team evaluate them.Baltimore has three confirmed starters: Dylan Bundy, Andrew Cashner and Alex Cobb. Last week, the Orioles signed Nate Karns, who didn’t pitch in 2018. They hope he can be their fourth starter, and there’s spirited competition for the fifth spot.“I think it’s pretty open,” Hyde said. “It’s a great opportunity for everybody in camp. A lot of jobs to be won.”Few spots on a team attempting to rebound from a franchise-worst 115 loss season are accounted for.“It’s just going to be a ton of evaluating,” the 45-year-old Hyde said.Besides Karns, David Hess and Yefry Ramirez, who finished last year in Baltimore’s rotation, will be in the mix. Josh Rogers, a left-hander obtained from the New York Yankees in the trade for Zack Britton will also get a long look.Right-handers Luis Ortiz and Dillon Tate are probably longer shots, and Hunter Harvey , the team’s No. 1 pick in 2013 who has yet to pitch in the majors due to injuries, will get consideration as well.“We’re going to be careful with him,” Hyde said of Hunter. “Our number one goal with Hunter is that when we break (training camp) that he’s fully healthy and ready to go and ready to start the season. He’s just dealt with a lot.”Perhaps the most open of all positions on the team is catcher. Last year’s regular, Caleb Joseph, signed on Wednesday with Arizona, leaving Chance Sisco and Austin Wynns as the only catchers on the 40-man roster.Baltimore has six catchers scheduled to be in camp. One of them, Jesus Sucre, who was signed to a minor league contract, hasn’t arrived yet because of visa issues in Venezuela. Andrew Susac, who played briefly with the Orioles last season, Carlos Perez and rookie Martin Cervenka are also in camp.“We want to get some good defensive catchers in there because we’ve got young pitchers,” general manager Mike Elias said. “It’s something we feel is very important so we’ve brought in some veteran guys with very strong defensive reputations to compete. But we also have some young catchers, a couple of whom who have already played in the big leagues a little bit who are still prospects in a sense and some other guys who provide some depth in the minor leagues.”The competition in camp has been noticed by rookies and veterans.“I think that’s one of the best things that can happen to any club is to have a lot of fighting for positions ,” designated hitter Mark Trumbo said. “I think that’s going to get the best out of everybody, and there’s hardly any spots that are really totally wrapped up here.”NOTES: Besides Trumbo, left fielder Trey Mancini is the most notable name in camp. … Hyde said the Orioles will bring in a minor league catcher while they await Sucre’s arrival. It seemed as if the game would go on forever. The Boston Red Sox and Los Angeles Dodgers kept battling into the early hours of Saturday morning. Finally, Max Muncy put an end to the drama. He homered in the bottom of the 18th inning, driving a pitch from Boston relief pitcher Nathan Eovaldi over the left-field wall to end a seven-hour, 20-minute game. It was the longest game in World Series history, both in innings and time. The home run gave the Dodgers a 3-2 victory in Game 3, allowing Los Angeles to narrow the World Series gap to 2-1.Game 4 is scheduled to start at 8:09 p.m. ET on Saturday and will be televised by Fox.Joc Pederson homered in the third inning to give the Dodgers a 1-0 lead Friday, and Jackie Bradley Jr. belted a tying home run in the eighth inning. The Red Sox took the lead in the 13th inning on a walk by Brock Holt, a stolen base and infield hit by Eduardo Nunez. The Dodgers ended up tying it with two outs in the bottom of the inning on an infield hit by Yasiel Puig and a poor throw by Ian Kinsler as he attempted nail Puig.Kinsler had lost his balance after making the pick up, and Puig appeared to be no more than halfway down the line. If he had steadied himself, it seemed that Kinsler had the time to throw Puig out. But it didn't work out that way.The Dodgers will attempt to level the series with Rich Hill likely on the mound, but Red Sox manager Alex Cora was not ready to announce his starter after the game."How do you say it ," Cora said. "TBA."As Cora's postgame press conference wore on, he said "it most likely will be a lefty."Nathan Eovaldi kept the Red Sox in Game 3 with his excellent relief pitching.Jae C. Hong/Associated PressEovaldi pitched remarkably in relief, coming in at the start of the 12th inning and throwing 97 pitches and keeping the Red Sox in the game. "Nate was unbelievable tonight," Cora said. "You can't ask for more of an effort than he gave tonight. He was basically perfect."Dodgers manager Dave Roberts was equally effusive about Eovaldi. "Even though he did it to us, Eovaldi was remarkable," Roberts said. "He was unbelievable for that team."As good as Eovaldi was to finish the game, Los Angeles starter Walker Buehler was equally impressive at the start of the game. He pitched seven scoreless innings, giving up two hits and striking out seven without allowing a base on balls. The likely starter for Boston seems to be either Game 1 starter Chris Sale or Eduardo Rodriguez. Sale would be pitching on three days' rest, and that could be risky because he has struggled with shoulder issues in the second half of the season.Rodriguez pitched to just one batter Friday night, and he has been limited in the postseason. However, Rodriguez was 13-5 in the regular season with a 3.82 earned-run average, and he struck out 146 hitters in 129.2 innings.Drew Pomeranz, who was added to the roster prior to the World Series Bill Melton Jersey , could also have a chance to start for the Red Sox.SportsCenter SportsCenterMax Muncy almost had a walk-off in the 15th.Three innings later, he had one for real. #SCtop10 FCY3QG0xIDPredictionThe Game 3 loss seemed quite costly for the Red Sox. While they still lead in the World Series, Cora used Rick Porcello to start the game, and he pitched 4.2 innings. Game 2 starter David Price pitched 0.2 innings, and Eovaldi pitched for more than six.Cora has to scramble to find a starter for Game 4, and his bullpen is depleted. Meanwhile, Rich Hill should be the Dodgers starter, although the team tweeted that Saturday night's starter was still to be determined..The pendulum was swinging toward the Red Sox after the first two games, but it appears to be going toward the Dodgers following Friday's marathon.Look for Los Angeles to win Game 4 and square this suddenly remarkable World Series.

  • zhangzk ha creado el nuevo tema » Tampa Bay might be the most surprising team in the en los foros.
After knocking off New Orleans in a high-octane affair in week one Bryan Anger Jersey , the Buccaneers responded by taking down the defending champs last Sunday. It won’t get any easier in week three with Ben Roethlisberger and the Pittsburgh Steelers coming to town. Despite missing Le’Veon Bell, the Steelers offense is still elite, currently ranked No. 2 in the league behind who else, Tampa Bay. It’ll be interesting to see if Ryan Fitzpatrick can stay hot against a Pittsburgh defense that struggled against the pass a week ago. The Bucs have the weapons on offense to light up the scoreboard for the third straight week against a defense that has allowed 31.5 points per game.1. Finding success on the groundThough Tampa Bay has blitzed its opponents up through the air during its first two games, the Buccaneers haven’t found much success on the ground. As a whole, the offense has averaged 77.5 rushing yards per game on only 2.7 yards per attempt. Tampa Bay may have to get more creative with its play calling to open up the run. Will we see Ronald Jones get a chance to spark this offense in week three?2. Taking advantage of a weak secondaryPittsburgh got blindsided last week in a high-scoring loss to Kansas City. Patrick Mahomes was on fire, completing 23 of his 28 passes for 326 yards and six touchdowns. With the success Tampa Bay has had through the air in its first two wins, Fitzpatrick and the receiving corps will be the players to watch on Monday night. The former Harvard star has been incredible early in 2018, completing 78.7% of his passes for 819 yards with eight touchdowns compared to just one interception. If the deep balls continue to connect, expect another explosive performance from the Bucs offense.3. Pass protectionDespite the Steelers allowing 31.5 points per game and having some breakdowns in the secondary, this team has rushed the passer well.Pittsburgh has amassed eight sacks during its first two games, netting four in each contest. On the other side, Tampa Bay has only allowed two sacks in its first two games. After holding off a stout Philadelphia Eagles defensive line last week, the Bucs offensive line is up for another challenge. 4. A big game from the defensive lineTampa Bay is heading into its contest against Pittsburgh severely limited on the defensive line. Starting defensive tackle Beau Allen and First-Round pick Vita Vea have both been ruled out for the game. That means Gerald McCoy and Jerel Worthy are the only healthy interior linemen for the Buccaneers. We’ll likely see defensive ends William Gholston and Will Clarke get some burn on the inside to help keep McCoy as fresh as possible. This is going to be a grinding effort from this defense and it all starts up front. Tampa Bay is going to need the entire defensive line to step up this week. 5. Limiting intermediate playsDespite starting 0-2, Pittsburgh has still performed well on offense. The Steelers are tied for first in the NFL with 58 first downs, with 42 coming through the air.Tampa Bay has surrendered 376.5 passing yards per game to New Orleans and Philadelphia. Starting cornerback Brent Grimes was a full participant on Saturday and he could provide a big boost to the Bucs secondary.Grimes missed the first two games with a hamstring injury. Safety Chris Conte is also expected to play despite a knee injury. With a short-handed defensive line and a young defensive backfield, it is vital for Tampa Bay to limit Pittsburgh’s intermediate plays to try and prevent them from racking up first downs. If you’re like me, you’re smack dab in the middle of your fantasy football league’s playoff race. Even if you’re on the outside looking in Womens Bryan Anger Jersey , these are the weeks you can use to develop your strategies and figure out what went wrong so you come back next year a smarter and wiser player.Either way, daily fantasy football is available to all who seek it, so don’t go away just yet folks! We’ve got plenty of advice coming up, and plenty of opportunities to do better than we did last week. Before I even dive into all of the Week 8 stats, I already know two of our quarterbacks turned our thoughts upside down. Here’s how it all went down.QUARTERBACKS (0/3): Goose egg. Nada. Not one of our projections panned out. I blame global warming. Winston got benched in real life, so you can figure out how his fantasy day went. Carr absolutely torched the Colts defense - although I stand by my Oakland Raiders analogy gif - and Keenum just couldn’t up his fantasy football game against the Chiefs’ porous defense. We’ll do better this week folks, because we can’t do any worse.RUNNING BACKS (3/3): If you came looking only for quarterback advice, and didn’t take a gander at the running back advice - well - you may not be reading this today. But if you looked at more than the QB, you should be happy to see how fierce the comeback was here.James Conner as our start and Marlon Mack as our sleeper turned in RB1 and RB3 performances respectively. Our sit of the week, LeSean McCoy, continued to have his talents wasted on the land of the wing, as he totaled just sixteen points on his way to a RB18 finish.RECEIVERS (2/3): Alshon Jeffery as our sleeper just didn’t pan out despite facing a Jacksonville Jaguars defense who had been victimized regularly as of late. His team won, but he came out a fantasy football loser. Brandin Cooks delivered on our sit projection, despite doing better than our sleeper. And Travis Kelce turned in a TE1 performance to save the group a bit.DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMS (0/3): Started poorly, ending with a whimper. Chicago’s defense didn’t do bad finishing as the 13th best defense in the fantasy football weekend, but DST12 or better is required to land a win in the starter category, so we take the loss on that. Indianapolis’ defense was torched in Week 8 (see, Derek Carr) and our sleeper projection took a beating right along with them. Finally http://www.tampabaybuccaneersteamonline....ameis-winston-jersey , our sit of the week was Cincinnati against the Buccaneers, and well, they scored 22-points on the back of four Jameis Winston interceptions including one pick-six.We’ll do better this weekend, right? Let’s find out.QUARTERBACKSJake Roth-USA TODAY SportsSTART: Aaron Rodgers, Green Bay Packers (@ New England Patriots)A battle between Aaron Rodgers and Tom Brady is always must-see tv if you ask me. This weekend’s match-up will be no different. Sunday Night Football should see plenty of action when two of the best to ever do it take center stage.SIT: Joe Flacco, Baltimore Ravens (vs Pittsburgh Steelers)Flacco’s final descent into retirement, benching, or journeyman quarterback has begun. Facing the Steelers is going to show a little more of why the Ravens drafted a young and electric quarterback this past off-season.SLEEPER: Ryan Fitzpatrick, Tampa Bay Buccaneers (@ Carolina Panthers)The last time we saw Fitzpatrick, he was being benched for Jameis Winston after one half of really bad Bucs football in Chicago. Before that, he threw three interceptions in the first half against the Steelers only to combine forces with a suddenly effective defense and nearly come all the way back on Tony Dungy Night. Before that, we had the emergence of Fitzmagic in Tampa Bay and the Bucs were the talk of NFL Town. What will we see this weekend? Well, that’s why they call them sleepers.RUNNING BACKSJay Biggerstaff-USA TODAY SportsSTART: Kareem Hunt, Kansas City Chiefs (@ Cleveland Browns)The Browns have a better defense than credited, and if their offense ever found a way to stay on the field, everyone might actually get to see it.Alas, the 2018 Browns don’t look much different than the 2017 version, and Kareem Hunt will get plenty of opportunity to make things happen.SIT: LeSean McCoy Authentic Peyton Barber Jersey , Buffalo Bills (vs Chicago Bears)We’re not picking on McCoy, just stating facts. With a name like his, he’s always going to pop into someone’s mind as a guy they may hover their finger over as a starting option. Don’t do it. Especially against the Bears defense.SLEEPER: James Conner, Pittsburgh Steelers (@ Baltimore Ravens)You might be surprised to see Conner listed as a sleeper, but going against the Ravens defense you may need to take pause before inserting him in your lineup. I say, go for it. Conner is one of my favorite players this year, and he’s earned the trust of his team. He’s going to come into this one a little more excited than some others, as the Steelers try to assert their dominance over their AFC North rivals.WIDE RECEIVERSBrace Hemmelgarn-USA TODAY SportsSTART: Adam Thielen, Minnesota Vikings (vs Detroit Lions)Can Thielen continue his 100+ yards per game average against the Lions? I say he’s got a pretty good shot at it.SIT: Robert Woods, Los Angeles Rams, (@ New Orleans Saints)The Rams have some decent options, but I see a game where they lean heavily on Todd Gurley, and the Saints force Goff to spread the ball to beat them. Woods will still produce, just not at WR1 numbers for your fantasy football lineup.SLEEPER: Emmanuel Sanders, Denver Broncos (vs Houston Texans)Demaryius Thomas’ trade to Houston will trigger an uptick in opportunity for one Courtland Sutton, but it’s also going to trigger a higher focus on Sanders from quarterback Case Keenum. In PPR leagues, this is an automatic upgrade, but his numbers should climb a bit in all formats for the first few weeks.TIGHT ENDSJonathan Dyer-USA TODAY SportsSTART: David Njoku Authentic Chandler Catanzaro Jersey , Cleveland Browns (vs Kansas City Chiefs)Outside of Jarvis Landry, Njoku provides Baker Mayfield his biggest opportunity for consistent success in the passing game.Look for him to get plenty of targets this weekend, and he should stack up nicely amongst NFL tight ends in Week 9.SIT: Vance McDonald, Pittsburgh Steelers (@ Baltimore Ravens)The Ravens are going to pose a significant battle for the Steelers, and while McDonald certainly has talent, he’s not become one of the weekly regulars quite yet. Ben Roethlisberger and Mike Tomlin are going to lean on household names a bit more than usual in this one, making McDonald a guy I just can’t roll with, with much confidence.SLEEPER: Trey Burton, Chicago Bears (@ Buffalo Bills)The Bills haven’t seen their stadium filled with snow just yet, and Burton should get plenty of attention from quarterback Mitch Trubisky given the strength of the Buffalo defense resides mainly in their secondary.DEFENSE/SPECIAL TEAMSSteve Mitchell-USA TODAY SportsSTART: Chicago Bears (@ Buffalo Bills)Whichever defense is facing the Bills always has a shot at rising up the fantasy football scoreboards, but when it’s one of the best defensive units in the league, you really want to take advantage.SIT: Cleveland Browns (vs Kansas City Chiefs)Like I said, the Browns have a better defense than most realize. It’s going to get harder to convince people after watching them face the Chiefs this weekend.SLEEPER: New York Jets (@ Miami Dolphins)The Jets defense is opportunistic, and the Dolphins offense provides opportunities. This unit should be good for a couple turnovers in this match-up, and it’ll help them stick right around starting D/ST numbers for Week 9.

  • zhangzk ha creado el nuevo tema » Gerald McCoy is puzzled when he hears people quest en los foros.
NFL players , particularly backup quarterbacks such as Nick Foles and Ryan Fitzpatrick."It's the NFL," Tampa Bay's six-time Pro Bowl defensive tackle said. "Everybody's good."Foles' success filling in for the injured Carson Wentz is one of the biggest reasons why the Philadelphia Eagles (1-0) were able to win the Super Bowl after losing their starting quarterback late last season.Fitzpatrick has McCoy's Buccaneers (1-0) off to a promising start without suspended starter Jameis Winston after playing arguably the best game of a 14-year career that includes stints with seven teams."I don't get when a person, an analyst or fan or anybody says: 'Oh, he's not good.' ... "That's a horrible thing to say about an NFL player because there are people who would give anything to be in the NFL," McCoy said. "They just didn't have what it takes to be 'not good.'"McCoy calls Foles "MVP" because the Eagles quarterback has been the most valuable player in a Pro Bowl, as well as last season's Super Bowl."He always laughs when I call him that," the ninth-year pro said, looking ahead to facing the defending NFL champions Sunday at Raymond James Stadium."He's a great player. He doesn't do more than he's asked to do," McCoy added. "He's a great leader, and just a great guy overall."Those are some of the same attributes McCoy sees in Fitzpatrick, who threw for a career-best 417 yards, four touchdowns and zero interceptions to help the Bucs surprise New Orleans 48-40 on the road last week. The 35-year-old Fitzpatrick, who has 120 career starts and is one of just four players in NFL history to toss TD passes for seven different franchises, also rushed for a TD."Confidence is a huge thing, whether you're out there or not," Fitzpatrick said Womens Chris Conte Jersey , addressing what it takes to be a successful backup. After going 2-1 filling in for an injured Winston last season, Fitzpatrick is slated for a minimum three starts this year while the No. 1 overall pick from the 2015 draft serves a suspension for violating the NFL's personal conduct policy."But also, more so than my confidence in myself ... is when you're in the huddle, whether you're the starter or you're the backup, you can feel from the playcaller, you can feel by the guys looking at you whether they have confidence in you," Fitzpatrick said."I think with all the different experiences I've had, I just continue to become a better player," Fitzpatrick added. "Whether people think that or see that, I'm better right now than at any point in my career. A lot of that is mentally, and whatever else."Foles, who threw for 117 yards, no touchdowns and one interception in Philadelphia's 18-12 season-opening victory over Atlanta, is 2-0 in career starts against the Bucs. He completed 66 percent of his passes for 677yards, five TDs and zero picks in leading the Eagles to road victories in 2012 and 2013.Eagles coach Doug Pederson started 17 games during a playing career that spanned 10 seasons with four teams. So, he has plenty of insight into what it takes to be an effective backup."I think in the case of both Nick and Ryan http://www.tampabaybuccaneersteamonline....aleb-benenoch-jersey , they've studied the game for so long, they're veteran players, they've started and played in this league. ... You can't discount that," Pederson said. "When we lost our starter for the season (last year) ... the guys rallied around Nick, supported Nick and never once doubted what Nick was able to do. I think that's the same thing in Tampa Bay (with Winston's suspension)."Some things to know when the Eagles visit the Bucs:THE FIRST ONEFoles earned his first career win his rookie season at Tampa Bay on Dec. 9, 2012. He threw for 381 yards and two touchdowns, including the winning score to Jeremy Maclin from the 1 with no time left on the clock. Foles also had a 15-yard TD run in the game. The Eagles finished 4-12 that year, Andy Reid's final one in Philadelphia. Foles was 1-6."I just remember sitting at my locker after the game thinking that wasn't easy to get that win. It was really special," Foles said. "At that point, I didn't know how it was going to be because I hadn't won and it was a tough year for us."ON THE MENDThe status of Bucs receiver DeSean Jackson (shoulder/concussion) for Sunday is uncertain after the speedy 11th-year pro had five receptions for 146 yards and two touchdowns in Tampa Bay's win over the Saints last week. It was the best game the former Eagles star has had since joining the Bucs in 2017. Jackson didn't practice Wednesday, but participated on a limited basis Thursday. With Brent Grimes still not practicing because of a sore groin and Vernon Hargreaves III on injured reserve after hurting his shoulder in the opener, the Bucs could be without their top two cornerbacks against the Eagles. That figures to mean bigger roles for rookies Carlton Davis III and M.J. Stewart.BRADHAM'S BACKEagles linebacker Nigel Bradham returns to the lineup after serving a one-game suspension in Week 1. Bradham was the team's leading tackler last year and took over playcalling in the huddle after Jordan Hicks was injured."He's an important part of our defense," defensive coordinator Jim Schwartz said. "We were able to cover up some things in his absence. We've had to do that for a lot of different situations with different players. It'll be good to get him back for sure."Hicks returned to the lineup last week after rupturing an Achilles tendon last October. He had 1 1/2 sacks. Buccaneers quarterback Jameis Winston wasn’t there for the first three games of the season. When he returned, the C on his jersey was missing, the first time in three seasons he wasn’t voted a team captain. But Winston said he still hoped to lead the team in his own way, even without the traditional symbol of leadership.Bucs players chose five season-long captains Womens Demar Dotson Jersey , including wide receiver Mike Evans and tackle Ali Marpet on offense,聽linebackers Lavonte David and Kwon Alexander from the defense and linebacker Adarius Taylor representing special teams. Winston had been voted a captain each of the last two seasons, but his suspension obviously had a bearing on this year’s selection.“Ain’t no weight being taken off my shoulders at all,” Winston said, via Eduardo Encina of the Tampa Bay Times. “Just because you don’t have a C on your chest, it doesn’t mean you can’t lead. I’m happy that those two guys have a C on their chest, but I’m going to continue to do my best to lead this team. . . .“I think especially offensively, you have Mike Evans who is one of the best players in the league. He’s a great leader in his room, and you have Ali Marpet, who is our NFLPA rep, and he’s a great leader in his room. So when you’ve got two great leaders like that on your side of the ball, they can easily, they can both go either way. I think that again, that’s a good situation that we’re in.”They add a sixth weekly captain each week, and Winston accompanied the aforementioned five for the coin toss last week against the Browns.

  • zhangzk ha creado el nuevo tema » Monday Morning Optimist: The Carolina Panthers are en los foros.
Fans of the Carolina Panthers have spent years selling themselves on the idea that ‘this year’ would be the year that a long standing team weakness would suddenly become a strength. Every season has opened with the hope that a new undrafted free agent could be the next Steve Smith Cheap Taylor Moton Jersey , that the likes of Byron Bell could truly fill the shoes of Jordan Gross. The hope has never truly been that a knight in shining armor would come riding out of the forest in our moments of distress so much as that leadership would notice there was distress in the first place. Too many games have ended with banal press conferences that left no impression upon the viewer that anybody making decisions was aware that there were decisions to be made. That all stopped when Ron Rivera fired Mike Shula and brought in Norv Turner as the Panthers’ offensive coordinator.Turner’s hire may have hardly moved the needle, as he was brought in to run essentially the same offense that Cam Newton had been in for most of his career, but it seems to have done enough. Rivera has always believed that his teams were good teams that were very close to being great. He was confident in and loyal to his guys (Shula, McDermott). Losses, from this perspective, were generally failures in execution or bad luck. Never you mind the legions of Panthers fans screaming from their couches about stodgy offensive philosophies or zone defenses that gave premier wide receivers softer cushions than a Bed, Bath, and Beyond. For the most part , Rivera may have been right. The fans should get their credit, too. This season so far has shown patient game planning and a willingness to play to the strengths of the existing personnel in a way that Carolina hasn’t in years. It has shown an ability to slide help to various members of the offensive line while still having play designs that could be successful. The system may have been fine all along, but an upgrade on the coaching staff was necessary to help it — and Newton — reach their potential. So, again, Turner’s arrival in Charlotte may not have shaken the earth, but the difference he provided has been critical. Maybe that validates Rivera’s lack of public concern over his team at a time when fans, also somewhat rightly, were clamoring for heads. Rivera was loyal to people who were so close to being what the team needed. Fans were frustrated with having been so close for so long. That is born out by what Rivera has accomplished in his career as a head coach. He has put the Panthers in the playoffs in four out of his seven years so far. Three of those teams won over 10 games. Those kinds of records don’t happen by accident.I’ll continue to gripe all I can about conservative calls on 4th downs (though Rivera is making me proud in 2018) Womens Ian Thomas Jersey , but the fact that Chris Clark has walked into Bank of America stadium off the streets and done, with significant assistance, a serviceable job at left tackle proves that the fans and the coaches were right all along: the Panthers have spent a long time being in the vicinity of greatness. They really were just one player (or maybe one coach) away. Why isn’t this a bad thing? Rivera should be lampooned and run out of town by mobs carrying buckets of hot tar and bags of chicken feathers with Marty Hurney close behind him. After all, he is the guy who preached loyalty. He stood by Shula for years when all the arm chair general managers in the world could plainly see that the former offensive coordinator couldn’t hack it.In the NFL that should be damning. By the all of the logics the league has taught us they work by, that should be his end with the Panthers. Rivera should have been fired after failing to make the playoffs in 2016. He then should have been hired by the Browns or the Chargers or the Titans so that he could prove himself to be the same man to team after team after team. But Ron Rivera is not Jeff Fisher. He is not John Fox.Rivera’s failure to move on from Shula should be countered by the simple fact that he did move on from Shula. He may have actually learned. His renewed risk taking, measured as it may be, is a sign of actual evolution as a coach. He might should have been fired years ago, but it would be silly for us to call for his head this year. The only NFL decision maker who has proven capable of change and adaptation over the past couple of decades is this guy named Bill Belichick. Rivera isn’t exactly Belichick Youth Kawann Short Jersey , but he has taken a step in the right direction. He doesn’t have to step very far.Turner’s hire moved the needle. The Panthers have optimized their talent and a weak free agent class to create a surprisingly robust depth at offensive tackle. They have gone through a laundry list of receiver transactions looking for better and faster guys. The safety position tried to bury themselves alive and the Panthers signed Eric Reid in the middle of a lawsuit against the NFL. It seems that the team’s leadership —be it Rivera, Hurney, or David Tepper— knows that there are decisions to be made to elevate this team. They finally tried. Look at them go.More evidence emerges suggesting that Luke Kuechly may be a good linebacker Panthers stat guy Will Bryan Tweeted out a fun little nugget today about everyone’s favorite middle linebacker today. Luke Kuechly was named a first team All-Pro in 2013, 2014, 2015, and 2017. He was named a measly second team All-Pro in his concussion-shortened 2016 campaign. Some more fun facts related to his All-Pro selections:He is the only active defensive player to be named to five consecutive All-Pro teams at any point in their careersAntonio Brown and Johnny Hekker are the only two others that have been named to All-Pro teams in each of the last five seasons Only five other players on NFL rosters match Luke Kuechly’s four First Team All-Pro selections: J.J. Watt, Johnny Hekker, Rob Gronkowski , Antonio Brown, and Shane LechlerLuke Kuechly is 27 years old and has played 6 seasons in the NFL this is absolutely ridiculous. It may be shocking to some, but Luke Kuechly is very good at his job. Stay tuned for whenever some other absurd piece of information comes to light illustrating how good of a player he is.

Panthers 28 Bills 23: 5 winners , 3 losers from Carolina’s preseason win with a 28-23 come-from-behind win over the Buffalo Bills. While the starters only played a brief amount of time in the first half, it was nice to see some quality play during the short time they were in the game. There were also some areas that definitely need some work, but fortunately we have the rest of the preseason to iron out those wrinkles as we get ready for the regular season opener against the Dallas Cowboys on September 9.Here are five winners and three losers from tonight’s win over the Bills.WinnersTaylor Heinicke, QuarterbackHeinicke made a very good case that he should be the team’s No. 2 quarterback. To be fair, he was playing against backups, but he looked like he belonged out there. He finished the night 7-of-9 for 121 yards and a touchdown, and he looked very impressive while leading the offense. I’m looking forward to seeing him in action with the 1’s and 2’s next week against the Dolphins.Jermaine Carter, LinebackerCarter was all over the place tonight. His chase-down and near-sack of Josh Allen was one of several impressive plays that he made during his time on the field. He ended the night with one tackle and one sack Womens Taylor Moton Jersey , but his play was much better than his numbers suggest. If he can continue to play like he did tonight he’ll find himself not only on the 53-man roster, but contributing on game day.D.J. Moore, Wide receiverOf course everyone was excited to see what Moore could do on the field, and he showed off his ability in a big way with an impressive catch and run that gained 26 yards and set up a touchdown. He ended the night with four catches for 75 yards, and I have a feeling that we’re just seeing the beginning of what he can bring to the offense. Get excited, folks.Christian McCaffrey, Running backThe Panthers have said they want to give McCaffrey the bulk of the touches on offense this year to utilize his versatility. If what we saw tonight is any indication, they should definitely follow up with that plan. McCaffrey picked up some nice yards on a screen pass from Cam Newton in the first quarter , and also scored the first-team offense’s touchdown with a nice run. He did fumble the ball trying to fight for more yards, but luckily the Panthers recovered it and it worked out in the end. Overall, though—I liked what I saw from him tonight.Shaq Thompson, LinebackerThompson showed that the Panthers won’t have to worry too much during the first four weeks of the season while Thomas Davis serves his suspension. Thompson played very well tonight, and also had a nice interception in the first half. I liked what I saw from him and can’t wait to see even more. Cam Newton appears on his way to becoming a smarter, more efficient passer. It's only been two games, but the Panthers' eighth-year quarterback is completing a career-best 69 percent of his passes 鈥?well above his career completion mark of 58.3 percent 鈥?entering Sunday's game against the unbeaten Cincinnati Bengals. Those numbers may not turn a lot of heads, but the Panthers (1-1) believe it's a sign that Newton is gaining a solid grasp on new offensive coordinator Norv Turner's scheme and developing as a passer. He's being more patient Womens Christian McCaffrey Jersey , often working through his progressions and finding his second, third and sometimes fourth options on pass plays. That was evident last Sunday when Newton completed 14 passes to running back Christian McCaffrey resulting in 102 yards 鈥?most of those on "check downs," where Newton was forced to read the defense and wait until the play developed before releasing the football."He's made a lot of good decisions these first two games," coach Ron Rivera said. "I'm real excited about the progress Cam has shown in terms of understanding and getting a feel for what coach Turner wants."The 2015 league MVP completed 32 of 45 passes for 332 yards and two touchdowns in a 31-24 loss to the Falcons on Sunday 鈥? although those numbers would have been higher had his receivers not dropped five passes, including one bobbled ball that resulted in Newton's only interception of the season.Despite the loss, Rivera praised Newton's performance."He was patient, he went through his reads and he didn't force balls in," Rivera said. "And he threw check downs when he needed to. And that was huge. ... Not always do you have to force the ball in or take off running."Rivera expects Newton's completion percentage will increase the more time he spends in Turner's offense.Newton said it's just a matter of learning to take what the defense gives him.One of the biggest keys Youth Luke Kuechly Jersey , he said, is trusting teammates around him to do their jobs 鈥?the offensive line giving him time to work through his progressions and receivers making plays with the ball in their hands. That happened against Atlanta when Newton found D.J. Moore 鈥?his second option 鈥?with a pass over the middle that the speedy rookie wide receiver caught and turned into a 51-yard touchdown."Wherever the read takes (me) I have to get the ball out of my hands and allow those guys to" make plays, said Newton, whose completion percentage ranks 15th in the league."That has been a bigger part of what they doing, no doubt," Bengals coach Marvin Lewis said of the check downs.McCaffrey was drafted last year with the purpose of giving Newton an option when things begin to break down, instead of having to tuck and run as often. The running back from Stanford set a franchise rookie record with 80 receptions. This year, he's on pace to double that output.McCaffrey is unlikely to get to 160 receptions because at some point teams are going to adjust and take him away. But the Panthers are counting on that , figuring it will open things up downfield for other receivers."Eventually teams will have to start to play that," McCaffrey said, "and that's when it all opens up."While Newton's intended target may change as the season unfolds, Panthers wide receiver Torrey Smith said Newton has a good chance of maintaining that 69 percent completion rate 鈥?or even improving on it."Cam has been working his tail off and he has been making great decisions," Smith said.Newton said he couldn't care less about his completion percentage, as long as the team wins.

Week 5 kickoff with both teams looking to stay atop their respective divisions. The Bengals are currently 3-1 and leading the AFC North , tied with the Baltimore Ravens, while the Dolphins are also 3-1, leading the AFC East by a half-game following the New England Patriots win on Thursday night. As we approach the 1pm ET kickoff, it is time to get to know the Bengals a little better. I got a chance to speak withPatrick Judis from Cincy Jungle to learn move about the Bengals. You can check out my answers to his questions about the Dolphins here.1. Former Dolphins offensive coordinator Bill Lazor was promoted from Cincinnati quarterbacks coach to offensive coordinator during the season last year. Dolphins fans remember Lazor coming to the team with high expectations about turning the team into an explosive offense, only to see stagnation and a lack of scoring. Now, with a full offseason to implement his system in Cincinnati, what have you seen from Lazor’s offense this year and, at 3-1, is it safe to assume it is working?Bill Lazor has been fantastic. You could see him taking over last season have an impact. The Bengals’ offense would consistently start off hot with these innovative looking plays, but when he had to fall back on the playbook he was forced to use is when the Bengals struggled.Cincinnati was in desperate need of a new start. The last complete offensive overhaul was when Jay Gruden took over in 2011. If you run the same basic concepts for that long the NFL takes notice of trends. Lazor has been a breath of fresh air. The entire offense raved about him during the offseason, and the results speak for themselves. Andy Dalton is tied for second with 11 passing touchdowns, A.J. Green is second in the NFL with five touchdowns and before Joe Mixon got hurt he was on of the leading rushers in the NFL after two weeks.2. Miami’s pass rush has been a work in progress this season, with players getting through the offensive line, though they are not getting to the quarterback nearly as much as they would like or as much as we expected, only recording six sacks so far this year, 29th in the league. Cincinnati struggled with their offensive line last year Youth Raekwon McMillan Jersey , but added Cordy Glenn and Billy Price this year to be upgrades to the line - though Price is sidelined with an injury right now. How is the offensive line playing, and should Miami be able to get to Andy Dalton? The left side of the offensive line seems to be solid. Cordy Glenn has shown signs of being human, but it is nothing worth complaining about. Trey Hopkins has actually done a pretty good job of replacing Billy Price at center as well. However, the right side of the line is pretty inconsistent (that is as nicely as I can say it). I may or may not have a drinking game where I take a drink every time Bobby Hart just doesn’t block someone at right tackle. Right guard Alex Redmond also has been escorted to Dalton’s lap quite regularly during the game as well. Both of them have also committed a few costly penalties that have negated big plays throughout the season. The only reason Dalton has been able to survive as well is he has done a great job of making reads quickly. The Bengals also have started running more screens to help keep defensive linemen from pinning their ears back. I would be surprised if the Dolphins didn’t manage to get to Dalton a few times though.3. Speaking of injuries, the Bengals are dealing with several big names who have had injuries lately. How are the Bengals going to replace tight end Tyler Eifert, who broke his ankle and is out for the season? And, I have seen mixed reports so far, but should the Dolphins expect to see Joe Mixon this week?I would expect Joe Mixon to play. You could tell by the way he was running around on the sideline during the Falcons game that he was close. He actually was on of the first people to celebrate with Green after he caught the game-winning pass. Unless he suffers a setback he should be out there.Tyler Eifert will be pretty much impossible to replace with just one guy obviously. Many casual fans may expect Tyler Kroft to be the main guy, but I think C.J. Uzomah is the tight end to watch out for. He has made some big plays already this season, and he is just far more versatile as a play maker than Kroft is. I also think receiver Tyler Boyd will get even more targets as Dalton’s main safety blanket since Eifert is out.4. Cincinnati is 29th in the league right now, allowing 419 yards per game this year, 303.5 through the air (28th) and 115.8 on the ground (21st). Where can Miami attack the defense, and how do you think the Bengals will use Vontaze Burfict as he comes back from his suspension this week?Attack the linebackers in the passing game. It is the same thing every week with the Bengals. The short and intermediate passes that they leave the linebackers to cover get attacked all game. The Falcons even managed to get receivers in that position during the game. If The Bengals can’t get pressure on the passer it is usually pretty easy for the quarterback to pick them apart.Vontaze Burfict should help get everyone playing with more effort. He is just one of those guys who gets everyone fired up. I don’t think he fixes the coverage issues, but he does help the run defense quite a bit. It will be interesting to see how he impacts the rotation at linebacker as Nick Vigil plays almost every snap, and Preston Brown usually rotates with Hardy Nickerson Jr., so Burfict may end up benching Brown and Nickerson.5. Who do Dolphins fans not know that will be a factor in this game? This is Tyler Boyd’s season. People are just now starting to hear about him due to fantasy. He has been heavily targeted since Week 2 , and he looks like the guy Cincinnati thought they were getting when they drafted him in the second round of the 2016 draft. Boyd actually leads the team in catches (26) and yards (349) ahead of Green.Even last week Boyd was targeted on important third downs and even the fourth down that led to the Bengals game-winner. Dalton has an incredible amount of trust that Boyd will beat his man, and with defenses focusing on Green and the speed of John Ross, Boyd usually has one-on-one match ups. With the Miami Dolphins officially in offseason mode, the team must begin looking ahead towards rebuilding the team in 2019. One of the most important factors in how to reconstruct the Dolphins into a contender will be deciding who stays and who goes, something that will be evaluated through March 13th: the official start of the new League Year.Until NFL free agency opens on March 13th, I will be reviewing the impending free agents on the Miami Dolphins and evaluating whether or not the team should retain them, tag them, or let them walk. When front offices choose how to handle their upcoming free agents, they take a variety of factors into account, including age, production, and value, so I will be doing the same. Today, we begin with the ageless legend, Frank Gore.Fact CheckPosition: RBAge: 35Experience: 15th seasonHeight/Weight: 5’9”, 212 lbsCollege: Miami (Fla.)2018 Stat ReviewUp until his Week 15 , injury, Gore had been used as Miami’s primary running back in tandem with Kenyan Drake. Gore started 14 straight games, rushing for 722 yards with an average of 4.6 yards per cary, his highest ypc mark since 2012.Gore also tacked on 12 receptions for 124 yards and a touchdown.2019 OutlookGore carried the ball fewer than 200 times for the first year since his rookie season, but his efficiency was higher than it had been in years. At this point in his career, Gore could still be used effectively as the early down hammer in a power back role to complement a shiftier and more explosive runner like Drake, whether with the Dolphins or elsewhere.Gore’s future with Miami seems to be in doubt moving forward given Adam Gase’s departure from the team. Gase seemed to be the person within the organization who had the highest affinity for the veteran ball carrier, and with Gase out of the building, it’ll but up to a new coaching staff and general manager Chris Grier to decide whether or not Gore should be back next season. Given that Gore hails from South Florida and is coming up on the end of his Hall of Fame career, it’d make sense that he’d be willing to sign on for another year.Last month, Gore told the South Florida Sun Sentinel that he’d like to be back with the Dolphins. “The goal is to come back one more year. I’ll see who wants me. Hopefully the Dolphins can re-sign me — that would be big. But you know how the business goes.”One factor weighing against Gore’s return is fact that the Dolphins are in a state of rebuild, a time when NFL franchises generally look to develop younger players. With a young stud like Drake on the roster and promising second year runner Kalen Ballage vying for more carries, the team may shy away from featuring an older back like Gore when that can be seen as stunting the growth of young talent. Then again, Drake routinely lauded Gore for his willingness to mentor, and having a veteran presence in the running back room, especially one that is so respected league-wide can’t be taken for granted. If the Dolphins were to let Gore walk White Laremy Tunsil Jersey , Drake and Ballage would be thrust into larger roles. Thus far, we haven’t seen Drake carry a full load in the running game, as he’s yet to average 10+ rushing attempts per game over the course of a season and seems to thrive as a third-down/change of pace back. Using Ballage as the early-down power back in place of Gore while increasing Drake’s running game usage slightly could be a recipe for success, but there’s no guarantee Ballage is ready for such a role, especially when it comes to the finer facets of the game like pass protection. With regards to contract details, Gore signed a one-year, $1,105,000 deal with the team last offseason. If he were to be brought back, it’s expected that his new contract would be quite similar.VerdictWhile there seem to be a few obstacles towards Gore’s return, bringing him back on a veteran minimum deal would be a cost-effective move that would give the Dolphins a safety net option if Ballage isn’t ready to play a larger role alongside Drake. If Ballage is up to the task, the team can scale back Gore’s game-day involvement while still benefiting from his leadership in the locker room.My vote: Retain

Ryan Tannehill's return from a shoulder injury jump-started a stagnant offense. The defense forced three turnovers and pressured Andrew Luck. Then over the final nine minutes Authentic Bobby McCain Jersey , everything went awry and their old troubles came roaring back.Luck made the most of Miami's mounting miscues by directing the Indianapolis Colts to three late scoring drives, culminating in Adam Vinatieri's 32-yard field goal as time expired in Indy's 27-24 victory Sunday. "We shot ourselves in the foot," Miami defensive end Cameron Wake said. "They made some plays too, nothing to take away from those guys. But in a critical moment, we have to be the ones to make it harder."Instead of celebrating, the Dolphins (5-6) went home with their 10th road loss in 11 games and fell one game behind Indianapolis (6-5) and Baltimore in the chase for the final AFC playoff spot. This one might go down as the most frustrating trip of the road slide because the Dolphins were perfectly positioned to close it out. They picked off Luck twice in the final minute of the first half, ended their touchdown drought on a 33-yard pass from Tannehill to Kenyan Drake on their opening possession and scored another TD at the end of the half . Miami retook the lead on Jason Sanders‘ 29-yard field goal in the third quarter and made it 24-14 on Drake's nifty 14-yard TD run with 13:36 remaining. Then Luck started to rally the Colts.A fourth-down conversion led to a field goal that cut the Dolphins' lead to 24-17.Following a three-and-out, Luck hooked up with Eric Ebron on a 12-yard TD pass with 4:25 left. After another three-and-out, Luck stepped through the pressure on third-and-9 Youth Jakeem Grant Jersey , somehow maintained his balance and found a wide-open Chester Rogers for a 34-yard gain to set up Vinatieri for the win.Even Luck acknowledged the Colts had been mystified by the Dolphins' defense."I was a little confused because they lined up in a look they had only showed once before all year," Luck said, referring to the crucial third-down conversion. "The guys did a good job of protecting and I saw Chester in the right spot at the right time."The Dolphins, of course, viewed the game as another chapter in an old story."(Andre) Branch has got the guy wrapped up, and it looks like we're going to have a sack and get the ball back," coach Adam Gase said. "He (Luck) squirms out of that and makes a great play. That's what the NFL is. It's one or two plays at the end."It wasn't just the big plays that cost the Dolphins. Two penalties in the waning moments hurt, too.Following Ebron's second score, cornerback Xavien Howard drew a personal foul call that allowed Indy to pooch kick the ball from midfield to just outside the goal line. On the ensuing return , Senorise Perry was called for holding, pinning the Dolphins at their own 6-yard line.Colts coach Frank Reich cited the kick, the coverage and the ensuing punt return that put Indy at its own 42 as the decisive twist.Dolphins running back Frank Gore, who spent three years as Luck's teammate, knew what to expect and that the Dolphins only had themselves to blame."We just have to finish as a team. Everybody," Gore said. DAVIE, Fla. (AP) — Frank Gore walked slowly through the Miami Dolphins locker room Monday, a slight hunch in his posture and a slight limp in his gait, which made him look like the 35-year-old running back he is.And he's among the healthy ones. The Dolphins (5-5) hobbled into their bye week thankful for the timing of the break. Coach Adam Gase gave his players the rest of the week off Mike Gesicki Jersey , and said if his team had a game Sunday, finding 46 healthy players to fill the active roster would be a challenge. "I don't even know if we'd have enough," Gase said."The bye week," gimpy left tackle Laremy Tunsil said, "came at the perfect time."For one thing, the bye buys quarterback Ryan Tannehill an extra week to continue his recovery from an injured capsule in his throwing shoulder. After a period of rest he began a throwing program Sunday."They said it was a good first step and he felt good, so that's a positive," Gase said. "We'll just progress through and see where we're at next Wednesday."The goal remains for Tannehill to return for Miami's next game Nov. 25 at Indianapolis."If we can get through this week and he feels great every day, then we've got a shot Authentic Jerome Baker Jersey ," Gase said. The odds seem against it. Tannehill was shut down after an earlier throwing program produced little progress, and missed his fifth game in a row Sunday when Miami was beaten at Green Bay.Brock Osweiler fell to 2-3 replacing Tannehill. And as the Dolphins lost for the fifth time in seven games, their injury list grew longer.Sidelined were cornerback Bobby McCain (concussion) and receivers DeVante Parker (shoulder) and Jakeem Grant (calf). Both receivers underwent MRIs on Monday, and their injuries are not believed to be season enders.By the final whistle, Miami was without five former first-round draft picks. That included starting tackles Tunsil and Ja'Wuan James, who both missed the game with knee injuries. There's a good chance they'll return against Indy.Given the way the Dolphins' season is trending, it's surprising the Colts game could be pivotal in the AFC wild-card race."We're still in the hunt," receiver Kenny Stills said. "We need to get healthy."Or healthier, at least.Last week the Dolphins had 18 players on their injury report. But not Gore Youth Matt Haack Jersey , the ageless veteran who ran for 90 yards in 13 carries Sunday. He became the first player to rush for 500 yards in 14 consecutive seasons, and hasn't missed a game since 2011.In the Dolphins' locker room, that makes him an outlier.

Oddsmakers have installed Baltimore as field goal favorites in what is expected to be a defensive minded game with a 41-point total. This match could have postseason implications down the road, as both teams sit at 3-2 in a crowded AFC.Most of the trends favor the Titans. They are 13-5 at home since 2016 while the Ravens are 7-11 on the road over the same period. Tennessee is also 4-1 in their last five games against the AFC North and the Ravens are recently 2-8 in October. After the Titans held off the Ravens 23-20 last season Youth Matt Skura Jersey , the all-time series between these franchises is tied 11-to-11. Baltimore attempted 52 passes against Tennessee last November, but may prefer a run centric game plan because the Titans defense is statistically much better against the pass than the run. On the other side of the ball, the Ravens top scoring defense hopes to stifle Tennessee’s pedestrian offensive attack. In a grinding type of contest that will probably mirror their old AFC Central rivalry games, these three matchups should determine the outcome:RG Marshal Yanda vs DT Jurrell CaseyTwo of the best in the business at their respective positions. With three sacks and a pair of forced fumbles this season, the three-time Pro-Bowler Casey rates as Pro Football Focus’ #5 interior lineman. He will square off against PFF’s #7 guard, Yanda on some plays.Casey lines up on the nose and at 3-technique. Coordinator Dean Pees will surely match him up against the Ravens below average blockers at center and left guard when feasible. Baltimore may opt to keep an H-back in to help contain the penetrator. Preventing Casey from collapsing the pocket will be paramount. As with all quarterbacks, Joe Flacco does not play well with pressure in his face.CB Tavon Young vs WR Taywan TaylorYoung is having a fine season after returning from a torn ACL. He corralled a beautiful diving interception last Week and is still the Ravens best option to man the slot, even after the return of Jimmy Smith. However, he can struggle to cover the better slot receivers, as evidenced by his performance on Tyler Boyd in Week 2. Enter Taylor, a shifty second-year receiver who has turned 23 targets into 169-yards and a score since Week 2. Because Tennessee’s rushing offense has significantly regressed from last season and top wideout Corey Davis has not shown an ability to make an impact against quality corners , Taywan is likely to be Marcus Mariota’s best option in Week 6.Baltimore is unlikely to generate consistent pressure against a line that has surrendered just nine sacks, but if Young can neutralize Taylor, the defense should dominate once again.QB Joe Flacco vs S Kevin ByardByard picked off Flacco twice last year in route to an All-Pro season. Yet he has not played as well in 2018 under Pees. Meanwhile, Flacco is coming off arguably his worst game of the season last week in Cleveland. With cornerbacks Adoree’ Jackson, Logan Ryan and Malcolm Butler, Tennessee does field the ideal skillsets to mark Baltimore’s top receivers. Flacco will need to utilize his tight ends, specifically rookie Hayden Hurst in the seam, to push the ball downfield. Notably, the Titans 11 passes allowed of 20-plus yards is second fewest in the NFL. In a contest that will almost certainly be decided by turnover differential, Pees will use Byard as a moveable chess piece in an attempt to confuse a quarterback he is extremely familiar with.

NFL's personal conduct policy. The suspension Womens Justin Tucker Jersey , announced Tuesday, stems from Smith's behavior toward his ex-girlfriend.The Ravens released a statement that in part read: "The Ravens fully support the NFL's decision. The NFL found evidence of threatening and emotionally abusive behaviors by Jimmy toward his former girlfriend that showed a pattern of improper conduct. Our player's behavior was inappropriate and wrong."The suspension will take effect after the final mandated roster cuts on Sept. 1 and extend through Baltimore's game at Pittsburgh on Sept. 30.Smith, in a statement issued by the Ravens, said: "I promise that I have already learned much and will continue to learn more from this experience. ... I take full responsibility for my past conduct."Smith will be allowed to participate in all of the Ravens' preseason activities, including games. The 30-year-old is one of Baltimore's best defensive backs. The team said it reviewed the case to decide whether to keep Smith on the roster."We convened a group of Ravens women and men executives, not directly involved with our football operations, to review the matter. We also engaged in conversations with Jimmy about his past behavior and his intention to change Joe Flacco Jersey ," the statement said."Additionally, it is our understanding that following a long-running and difficult custody dispute with his former girlfriend and mother of his son, Jimmy has resolved his custody and support issues."As a result, the Ravens will allow Smith to return after his suspension."Jimmy has acknowledged his behaviors were wrong and accepts full responsibility for them. He has completed a clinical evaluation and has agreed to undertake any follow-up care or treatment that may be recommended. ... Jimmy has assured us that he is fully dedicated to making this change. He also understands the consequences if he does not."Smith has played seven seasons for Baltimore since being drafted in the first round of the 2011 draft. He started in 12 games last season before an Achilles tendon injury forced him to miss the team's final four games. During those four weeks, he chose to accept an NFL suspension for using performance enhancers. After eight players missed practice on Wednesday, only three players were absent on Thursday.Terrell Suggs (knee) Youth John Brown Jersey , Willie Henry (abdomen), and Anthony Averett (hamstring) were all absent from practice. If Zrebiec’s report is accurate, two of Baltimore’s seven inactives have already been decided. It could also mean that a roster move is forthcoming. With only four healthy cornerbacks, the Ravens could opt to promote Makinton Dorleant from the practice squad or sign a free agent. They did work out three cornerbacks on Tuesday, and they will have until Saturday at 4:00 pm ET to make a decision. As for Henry, he will miss his fourth consecutive game after having surgery at the end of the preseason. His timetable for return was reported to be around four weeks, and he could return to the field soon Youth Matt Skura Jersey , but it will not be this week. Suggs is dealing with a knee injury, but the severity is still unknown. According to the Athletic’s Jeff Zrebiec, the expectation is that he will play. The positive news for Baltimore is that C.J. Tommy John surgery , although he will not be ready to hit for the Los Angeles Angels by opening day.Angels general manager Billy Eppler provided a positive update Thursday on the recovery of his two-way star, who had surgery Oct. 1.The Angels expect Ohtani to be their designated hitter at some point in 2019, but he will not be active when the Angels open the regular season in late March, Eppler says. Ohtani is not expected to pitch again until 2020.“It’s clear to us that the timing of his progression will not allow him to be active for opening day,” Eppler said. “Anything beyond that, I cannot answer at this time, because it’s a multilayered progression that he has to go through. To pinpoint a time is unrealistic.”Ohtani’s latest appointment with Dr. Neal El Attrache “went really well,” according to Eppler. Ohtani was cleared to begin weight training Friday as the right-hander rebuilds strength on his right side.Ohtani had already begun lower-body conditioning Hyun-Jin Ryu Jersey , Eppler said. When his upper-body strength returns to an acceptable level, which typically occurs after a few weeks of weight training, he will be cleared to take dry swings.Ohtani will report to the Angels’ spring training camp in Tempe, Arizona, before their first workout for pitchers and catchers on Feb. 13. He will participate in camp, but only in his current rehab program.“He’ll be doing what he’s been medically cleared to do,” Eppler said.During his dynamic rookie year in the majors, Ohtani batted .285 with 22 homers and 61 RBIs in just 367 plate appearances while going 4-2 with a 3.31 ERA and 63 strikeouts over 10 pitching starts.Eppler declined to speculate on the length of Ohtani’s current conditioning stretch Jose Fernandez Jersey , or when he will return to any phase of hitting. Ohtani is attempting a unique recovery from Tommy John surgery as he tries to continue his hitting career while resting his pitching arm for the customary length of elbow ligament replacement rehabilitation.Eppler also gave an encouraging update on first baseman Albert Pujols, who hasn’t played since having surgery on his left knee in late August. The three-time NL MVP has been hitting “for a while now,” Eppler said, and has increased his weight training.“We’re very optimistic that the next stage for him is when we get out on the field and start moving around a little bit more, and then incorporating at-bats in games,” Eppler said. The 39-year-old Pujols has three years remaining on his $240 million contract. He batted .245 last season with 19 homers, putting him sixth in baseball history with 633 homers heading into this year. WASHINGTON — National League Cy Young Award candidates square off in Thursday’s series finale between the Philadelphia Phillies and the Washington Nationals.Phillies right-hander Aaron Nola (14-3, 2.24 ERA) opposes right-hander Max Scherzer (16-5 , 2.11) as the Nationals (64-63) go for the sweep after Ryan Zimmerman’s walk-off, two-out, two-run homer gave them an 8-7 win on Wednesday night.Zimmerman’s shot off closer Seranthony Dominguez was his 11th career walk-off homer and first since 2016.Article continues below ...“That guy is nasty,” Zimmerman said after Washington won its second straight game following the trades of Daniel Murphy and Matt Adams. “Ninth inning, a close game and the other team has the lead, those (closers) are usually pretty good. I kind of put the pressure on them. They’re supposed to get me out.”The Phillies (68-58) have lost four straight and nine of 13. They trail first-place Atlanta by three games.“This is a big test for us,” manager Gave Kapler said after Philadelphia wasted an 11-hit night. “Big challenge to have a tough week like we’ve had and then to have an excruciating loss like the one we had tonight. Our guys aren’t going to hang our heads. We’re going to come back swinging tomorrow.”Nola and Scherzer appear at or near the top of the various NL pitching categories. Scherzer is first in wins and Nola is second. Scherzer is second in ERA behind Jacob deGrom of the Mets and Nola is third. Scherzer is first in strikeouts (234) and innings pitched (174 2/3) and second in ERA, while Nola is seventh in strikeouts (160) Andre Dawson Jersey , fifth in innings pitched (161) and third in ERA.And in terms of Thursday being a matinee, Scherzer is third in daytime ERA (2.24) and Nola is fifth (2.86).Nola hasn’t lost since July 14. Last time out he allowed one run and three hits over seven innings of a win against the Mets on Friday. He struck out 11 and walked one.“It’s pretty nasty,” Roman Quinn told of watching Nola’s curveball from center field. “I’ve seen it in live batting practice once before and it’s not something you want to stand in front of. He’s steady rolling and it’s fun to watch him pitch.”Scherzer hasn’t lost since July 2, going 6-0 with a pair of no-decision since then. Last Friday he threw six shutout innings in an 8-2 victory over the Miami Marlins. He allowed five hits, struck out seven and walked one. At the plate, he doubled for his career-high 16th hit of the season — improving his average to .296 — and scored twice from second base.“He does it all for us,” Nationals outfielder Bryce Harper told the Washington Post. “Every fifth day, he goes out there and pitches the ball well and runs the pillows really well and scores.”Scherzer has allowed two earned runs or fewer in each of his last six starts and is 16 strikeouts shy of a fifth consecutive season with at least 250.Against the Phillies this season Wei-Yin Chen Jersey , Scherzer picked up a no-decision on May 6 despite allowing one run with 15 strikeouts in 6 1/3 innings. He’s 9-1 with a 2.50 ERA against them in 15 career starts.Odubel Herrera is 12-for-36 (.333) versus Scherzer, while Asdrubal Cabrera is 15-for-64 (.234), Cesar Hernandez is 8-for-35 (.229) and Maikel Franco is 3-for-23 (.130).Nola has already beaten the Nationals twice this season, allowing three runs and nine hits over 13 2/3 innings in those two starts. For his career, Nola is 3-4 with a 3.99 ERA in 12 starts.Harper is 9-for-23 (.391) against Nola with two homers and five RBIs. Anthony Rendon is 6-for-24 (.250) with a homer and Zimmerman is 3-for-20 (.150).

  • zhangzk ha creado el nuevo tema » The Tampa Bay Buccaneers were back at One Buc en los foros.
Place on Wednesday , as they begin to prepare for their week eight matchup against the Cincinnati Bengals. While the team came out victorious on Sunday, it wasn’t all smiles as they lost both Kwon Alexander and Jack Cichy to ACL injuries. With both of them being linebackers, the Buccaneers needed to make moves to add depth to that position. The team signed veteran Kevin Minter and also brought back Riley Bullough. Lavonte David will stay at the weakside linebacker spot and starting strong side linebacker Adarius Taylor will be filling in the void left by Kwon at middle linebacker. That obviously leaves a hole at the strong side position, but the Buccaneers are turning to a familiar face in Devante Bond to fill that role, Dirk Koetter announced today.“He hasn’t been back very long. This is really the start of his second week. Again, we’re fortunate that he’s a guy that’s been with us for the last couple of years, so he does know the terminology and he was already plugged into all of our special teams,” Koetter said. “Not only three new players, but we also have several players that are going to be changing roles – he’s one of those guys. Maybe a little faster than we would’ve thought, but he’s going to move into the starting lineup as a Sam linebacker. He’s going to continue to be a mainstay on special teams.”The Buccaneers had their best defensive game of the season on Sunday against the Browns. One of the reasons why was the coverage was a lot better and rookie Carlton Davis was a big reason as to why. Davis has had an up and down season as a rookie, but you can tell each time he is out there he is beginning to gain more and more confidence and is continuing to grow as a player.“I have. I thought he had a good game last week, coming off a game that he missed due to health reasons. We know we’re going to have some growing pains with those rookies in the secondary. Carlton made a big play at the end of the game – you saw his length on display there Womens Chris Conte Jersey ,” Koetter said. Switching gears to the offensive side of the ball, Peyton Barber missed practice today due to an ankle issue, but Koetter has always been positive throughout the season on Barber. It’s not all his fault that the production isn’t there as the O-line isn’t opening any holes consistently for him, but Koetter admitted something today that I think fans have been waiting for. Koetter admitted that this football team is a pass first team.“Peyton right now is on a team that’s a pass-first team with really good skill guys at wide receiver and tight end. He’s just got to hang in there,” Koetter said. “I don’t think Peyton is doing anything wrong and I think RoJo [Ronald Jones] is doing a good job of catching up and closing the gap. Right now, we’re just a pass-first team.”It’s about time Koetter realized this. This team is far more effective when they pass the ball and has been for years. That’s not to say it need to happen 60 times a game, but if the run game isn’t working on a Sunday, Koetter knows he has the pass game to rely on and I think that’s important. The run game with Koetter has felt forced at times over the years. Koetter also didn’t want to get to much involved with the ongoing kicking controversy that seems to find the Bucs every year. Chandler Catanzaro redeemed himself on Sunday in overtime, but make no mistake, he will never say it, but you can tell Koetter is fed up with this kicking situation, as he should be.“Chandler [Catanzaro’s] a pro. That’s one thing I think is different about pro players. I think if a guy’s a proven player in this league http://www.tampabaybuccaneersteamonline....aleb-benenoch-jersey , they are their own worst critic. They don’t need me or anybody else chipping away at them,” Koetter said. “You could tell by how emotional Chandler was after the game what that meant to him. It’s business as usual to use your terms. These guys are back to work and it’s a new week. We’re on to working on Cincinnati.”We’ll see what happens this week, but if Catanzaro misses another, he might as well not even fly back to Tampa Bay. ARLINGTON, Texas (AP) — The big plays were there for Tampa Bay and its top-five offense on Sunday against the Dallas Cowboys. So were plenty of penalty flags and fumbles. The result: Another prolific offensive performance, and another Buccaneers loss. The Cowboys (9-6) clinched the NFC East with a 27-20 win over Tampa Bay, capitalizing on two critical Buccaneers turnovers and 85 yards rushing from Ezekiel Elliott. Dak Prescott completed 20-of-25 passes for 161 yards and a touchdown, and rushed for another score. Anytime the Buccaneers (5-10) seemed to generate momentum, they were derailed by a flag or turnover. The costliest play came late in the first quarter, when Jameis Winston escaped pressure only to be caught from behind and strip-sacked by Cowboys defensive end Randy Gregory. Dallas linebacker Jaylon Smith scooped up the ball and returned it 69 yards for a touchdown. It was Winston's first fumble since returning to the starting lineup in Week 12 against San Francisco."Yeah, that just can't happen," Winston said. "That's the bottom line. It can't happen."A series in the third quarter epitomized the Buccaneers' day. A 33-yard run by Peyton Barber was nullified because of a holding penalty on tight end Antony Auclair. On the next play Womens Demar Dotson Jersey , a botched handoff from Winston to wide receiver Bobo Wilson was recovered by Gregory at the Tampa Bay 4.The Cowboys scored two plays later to take a 27-13 lead."Two huge plays in that game really swung it," Tampa Bay coach Dirk Koetter said. "We're moving it, going in to possibly score, then fumble and they take it all the way back. And then we fumbled on the handoff (to Wilson), and they get the ball on the goal line. That's a 14- to 17-point swing right there."Turnovers were only part of the story. Tampa Bay also committed nine penalties for 72 yards, many of them at crucial moments. On the opening possession, wideout Mike Evans beat Cowboys cornerback Byron Jones deep down the left sideline for a 38-yard completion, putting the Bucs in scoring position. But one play later, center Caleb Benenoch was flagged for holding, and Tampa Bay had to settle for Cairo Santos‘ field goal.On the Cowboys' subsequent drive, defensive tackle Vita Vea sacked Prescott for a 10-yard loss but was flagged for a facemask, setting up first down from the 7. Prescott rushed for a touchdown on the next play."We moved the ball consistently all day Authentic Jason Pierre-Paul Jersey , and penalties put us in a bind sometimes," Koetter said. "We overcame some of them. It's frustrating to move the ball like that and not get touchdowns. Against good teams, that's what you're supposed to do."Winston hobbled a Bucs first-half drive on a rare block-in-the-back call against the quarterback. And in the 4th quarter, facing a 4th-and-1 from the Dallas 2, Winston lost track of time and Tampa Bay was flagged for delay of game."I thought we were going to get the ball snapped," Koetter said. "We didn't do a good job there."Winston scrambled for 5 yards on the next play, stretching just short of the first down and turning the ball back over to Dallas."I don't know what happened with the clock," Winston said. "I just have to call it faster and get the ball out. I've got to do a better job with operations."Winston finished 34 of 48 for 336 yards and a touchdown, surpassing Ryan Fitzpatrick in the first half for passing yards for the season. Tampa Bay gained just 63 yards on 24 carries. The team's longest run went for just 8 yards.

  • zhangzk ha creado el nuevo tema » They started to last year by drafting Carlton Davi en los foros.
It’s no secret Womens Vita Vea Jersey , the Tampa Bay Buccaneers need to add talent to the secondary. M.J. Stewart and Jordan Whitehead, but it simply isn’t enough and I hope the front office realizes that. The rookies had their moments, especially Davis and Whitehead, but it needs to be better and that’s why addressing the position in both free agency and the draft is a nust. Now, the Buccaneers aren’t a team that has $80 million dollars to spend this off-season, but they will have significant money to spendbafter cuts are made, which will give them the opportunity to add a few impact players across the board. On the last episode of Overtime, myself and Evan Winter were discussing some possible options that the Buccaneers will have when Free Agency hits at the beginning of March and the Buccaneers are in luck because this is a pretty good free agency class for defensive backs. The first option we discussed was Ronald Darby. Darby, is coming off of a torn ACL suffered in early November , so that is obviously an area of concern, but their is no debating the fact that Ronald Darby, when healthy, is a very good football player. After being acquired by the Eagles in the summer of 2017, Darby racked up four interceptions and 21 pass breakups in 17 games. According to Pro Football Focus, Darby was the 39th ranked cornerback last year and finished with a grade of 70.6. However, in 2017, Darby finished with a grade of 78.3. Again, injury is a concern with Darby, but he could be brought in on a one year prove it deal with the new regime in Tampa Bay. According to Tampa Bay Buccaneers T-Shirt , Darbys’ market value is at $13.4 million, but no team is paying close to that coming off an ACL tear. Expect a 1 year deal between $7-$8 million for Darby. The second player discussed was Bryce Callahan from the Chicago Bears. Set to be an unrestricted free agent, Callahan would be a great get for this Buccaneers team. Callahan is only 27 years old and has been a really solid player for the Bears secondary over the last couple of years. Like Darby, callahan also suffered a foot injury in early December that ended his season, but it isn’t that much of a concern moving forward. Many fans might assume that Vernon Hargreaves IIIis going to regain his starting nickel corner job next year, but not so fast. VH3 has missed the majority of the last two seasons and hasn’t lived up to the hype of being the 11th overall pick back in 2016. He’s still young and will likely be on the team next year because of his salary number, but if the Buccaneers can find an upgrade at nickel corner, you do it immediately. Callahan according to PFF, was the 7th ranked slot corner in 2018 and finished with an overall grade of 81.4. He struggles a little bit in the run game (57.8 grade), but makes up for it with his coverage (81.3) and pass rush ability (86.6). His market value is currently set at $7 million per year according to Spotrac. The final player we discussed was safety Tyrann Mathieu. Many people have already begun to draw the connections between the Honey Badger and Bruce Arians from their times in Arizona and that certainly is worth discussing Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hats , but the Buccaneers also need an upgrade at safety and he would be an ideal fit for Todd Bowles defense once again.Mathieu was given that second chance by Arians and his staff in Arizona and if Arians wants Tyrann now, it’s hard to picture him not at least considering it. He would immediately come in and start on this defense and give a much needed boost to the back end. He was the 21st ranked safety in the NFL last season and finished with an overall grade of 75.1. The individual grades are as followed, run defense (83.9), pass rush (67.1) and coverage (70.6). Now, 21st overall isn’t a number that jumps out at you, but compares to Justin Evans (48th overall) and Jordan Whitehead (63rd) overall, it would be an immediate upgrade. That is not debatable. So what about money with the honey badger? Well, he made $7 million last season with the Houston Texans and will probably command about the same salary this upcoming year, maybe a little bit more. Expect a 3-4 year deal in the $28-$34 million dollar range depending on the length of the contract. Upgrades are needed in the secondary and players will be available. It’s your turn Jason Licht. The Tampa Buccaneers will be traveling to Bank of America Stadium on Sunday to take on the division rival Carolina Panthers. Currently, the Buccaneers sit at 3-4 and are in last place in the NFC south Tampa Bay Buccaneers Hoodie , while the panthers are 5-2 and hold down the second spot in the South. The Panthers also occupy the first wild card spot in the NFC. Make no mistake about it, this is a due or die game for the Buccaneers. This is the game that will decide whether or not late November football will be important in the Bay Area. These teams are very familiar with each other and have squared off twice a year since 2002. Oh, what good times that 2002 season was. Anyways, this will be the 36th time that these two teams face each other and below are some of stats between the two teams throughout the years..Overall matchup record: Carolina Panthers lead the series 22-13. Last 10 matchups: Buccaneers are 2-8 in the last 10 vs the Panthers.Buccaneers record in Carolina: 7-11Overall scoring between the two teams: Carolina Panthers (764), Tampa Bay Buccaneers (594).Can Fitzmagic and the Buccaneers get a much needed win in a place they have struggles to get wins in over the years? Believe in Fitz people, believe in Fitz.

And it’s nice that they have that luxury now , to make decisions that only pertain to football.According to multiple sources in Carolina’s football operation, the question of whether free agent safety Eric Reid would continue to kneel during the national anthem never came up during their discussions this week. During a free agent visit to Cincinnati earlier this year, Bengals owner Mike Brown asked Reid about his future protest plans. Subsequently, Reid was not signed by the Bengals. In Carolina this week, it was never a factor.Simply put, it’s a move that never would have been made under former owner Jerry Richardson. And while the football operation wants to focus on how much Reid will help a team that lost starting safety Da'Norris Searcy, they know even if they won’t say it that having David Tepper in charge gives them a liberty they never previously enjoyed. (Of course, they haven’t used that liberty to sign the backup quarterback they desperately need, but when you’ve been crawling for 23 years, expecting a sprint is probably unfair.)Richardson had a deeply patriarchal view of his football team, and it reflected in the transactions they made. To call the Panthers conservative understates the case profoundly. Richardson bragged to Charlie Rose (in a visual made ironic given each of their future public humiliations) about No. 1 overall pick Cam Newton not being allowed to get tattoos. A fringe player (defensive back Marcus Ball) mysteriously disappeared from the roster after raising his fist last September at the peak of anti-Donald Trump sentiment. Defensive end Julius Peppers stayed in the locker room that day in his own silent protest, but since he’s a future Hall-of-Famer, he remains employed. Richardson’s desire to not risk offending his Old South base (i.e. conservative and white) was woven into the organizational culture , and the Panthers 192-192-1 record in 23 years was a metaphor for many things. But Richardson’s gone, after selling his team in the wake of allegations of workplace misconduct that included racial and sexual harassment. In his place stepped a man who once called the commander in chief “a demented, narcissistic scumbag” and “the father of lies.” While Tepper’s still very supportive of some of Trump’s policies (no one that rich isn’t), he has also been an active proponent for and participant in their efforts for social causes. This week, the Panthers were packing supplies for flood victims in Eastern North Carolina, and Tepper was elbow-to-elbow with players and staffers in the assembly line. He also impressed his players in his first meeting with them after the purchase, telling them that he cared about the issues they cared about, and was serious about allowing them to work for change.Assuming he’s in football shape, Reid should absolutely contribute to a football team that needs him. But whether he does or doesn’t, he already contributes to a culture that has changed, which certainly needed to. The NFL playoffs start this weekend, and while the Panthers aren’t participating there are plenty of reasons to tune in and watch. • zhangzk ha creado el nuevo tema » The former first round pick turned in a performanc en los foros.
Cam Newton is finally a good quarterback It took almost eight years , y’all, but Cam Newton has finally become a good quarterback. Dallas Cowboys and has pulled his season average completion percentage up to 65%. As we all know, completing 65% of your passes on average is the absolute benchmark for good quarterbacking. It’s a black and white standard.I assume that is the story of the season. I assume that everybody who spent years claiming that Newton was overrated during his 2015 NFL MVP season, who was clamoring for Derek Anderson to start, and who has, for months, been trying to buy passage on the Taylor Heinicke bandwagon has now been quieted. That their support has been thrown unequivocally behind Cameron Jerrell Newton, efficient passer of the football, as the quarterback of the Carolina Panthers for now and hereafter.Never we mind that Newton has averaged almost 40 yards a game on the ground. Never we mind that those yards often came on critical third and fourth down opportunities. Those yards and those plays aren’t valuable when produced by a quarterback and neither are the 55 touchdowns he has rushed for since entering the league. The Panthers stuck by their first overall pick for longer than many franchises would have. His ascendancy to being a good and relevant quarterback in his eighth season qualifies him as a late bloomer. Other first overall picks didn’t receive as much as time as Newton has to prove that they were good quarterbacks. Alex Smith only received seven seasons in San Francisco Trai Turner Jersey , which is mathematically less than Newton’s eight. David Carr, meanwhile, was released after four seasons by the Houston Texans.Ironically, both of those quarterbacks became good in their last seasons with their original teams. They posted 70% and 68.9% completion ratings respectively. Maybe that is the sign that this is Newton’s final year. Maybe the Panthers are just letting Derek Anderson rest for a season so that he can take the league by storm in 2019.It will be a tough call for general manager Marty Hurney, to be sure. On the one hand, Newton is now a good quarterback. On the other hand, the Panthers probably have a better chance of making the Super Bowl without him. It’s not like he ever proved capable of carrying their entire offense — kicking and screaming — through the playoffs all by himself. As for 2018, Newton will probably try to maintain his performance as a good quarterback. He can do that if he keeps his season average completion percentage above 65%, I’m told. That will probably mean he has to stop running so gosh darn much. Smiling Authentic Kawann Short Jersey , too. That’s OK, though. The Panthers have never been hurt by leaving a few first downs on the table, letting drives stall out, and not scoring in the red zone. The Carolina Panthers defense seems to be finding its stride in recent weeks. They gave up 28 points to the Buccaneers, but only ceded 4.6 yards per play to what had been the NFL’s best offense in terms of offense coming into the week. That performance was preceded by holding the Eagles and Ravens to 17 and 21 points respectively, both below those team’s averages. But tonight’s test will be tougher than any of the previous three. The Pittsburgh Steelers enter this Week 10 showdown ranked fourth in the NFL in total yards and ninth in scoring. They scored 74 total points in their last two home games, which is part of a four game winning streak they’re currently riding. Even without Le’Veon Bell, the Steelers offense is humming. With little time to prepare, it’s unfair to expect the Panthers defense to completely stifle Ben Roethlisberger and company. The Steelers are going to move the ball. They’re going to score points. But there are things the defense can do to give the Panthers a chance:Tighten up in the red zone. The Steelers have the second most efficient red zone offense. The Panthers have the second least efficient red zone defense. Weird stuff happens on Thursday nights Youth Mario Addison Jersey , and that needs to be the case here. With the Steelers boasting too many weapons to completely shut down, the Panthers defense will need to force field goal attempts instead of touchdowns at the very least. As an added bonus, kicker Chris Boswell has missed three of his ten field goal attempts and four extra point tries, so field goal attempts are not free points for the Steelers. Get Ben Roethlisberger all the way to the ground. Big Ben is one of the league’s best quarterbacks at escaping from sacks. Whether it be because his feet are planted so firmly in the ground that he won’t fall or because he makes an ill advised pass while in the grasp of defenders that somehow doesn’t get intercepted, he’s almost unsackable. The Steelers are one of only three teams that have allowed fewer sacks than the Panthers this year, giving up only 11 all year. The Panthers have averaged a respectable three sacks per game over their last three, with defensive end Mario Addison accounting for four total during that stretch. They need to build off that momentum tonight. Limit run after catch yards. The Steelers have three players in the top twenty in total yards after catch this season- Antonio Brown, JuJu Smith-Schuster, and James Conner. All three are dynamic with the ball in their hands , so the secondary and the linebackers need be sure with their tackling. The Panthers defense will be stretched to their limit tonight, but recent performances suggest that they could be up to the task. The Steelers defense, while better lately, is fallible. Just like last week, the defense just needs to make a few big plays and key stops to give the Panthers a chance to win.

The Miami Dolphins held their final training camp practice before their Preseason Week 1 contest on Thursday against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. While the day’s practice seemed to largely be made up of the defensive line abusing the offensive line and getting to quarterback Ryan Tannehill for would-be sacks , there was another brief matchup that was intriguing. Miami’s first-round pick, safety Minkah Fitzpatrick, and their second-round pick, tight end Mike Gesicki Youth Xavien Howard Jersey , faced off a couple of times on the day.And both won at least once.Gesicki caught a red zone touchdown pass from Tannehill, continuing his strong performance near the end zone and continuing to build hype that the rookie could become a key contributor this year. Of note, Gesicki caught this pass by out positioning and out leaping Fitzpatrick.Immediately after that play, however Youth Jason Sanders Jersey , the downside of Gesicki surfaced when he was beatenon a blitz, allowing a sack of Tannehill. Who was blitzing? Of course it was Fitzpatrick. The Dolphins should be excited about the play of both players so far this summer. On Thursday, they both should have a chance to get some NFL experience against the Buccaneers. Both will make rookie mistakes - and Gesicki has to clean up his pass blocking - but they appear to be the real deal for Miami, and Youth Cameron Wake Jersey , as they face off against each other in camp, their potential should be exciting fans. Miami Dolphins quarterback Ryan Tannehill has left the team’s Week 14 game against the New England Patriots with an ankle injury. In the second quarter, Tannehill dropped back to pass only to have right tackle Ja’Wuan James step back onto Tannehill’s ankle, rolling it and leading to a sack. Tannehill tried to stand up , then sat back down on the field before trainers came out to look at him. He then limped off the field and straight back to the locker room. The team has not made an announcement on the likelihood of Tannehill returning. Brock Osweiler replaced Tannehill in the lineup.Tannehill was 5-for-8 for 96 yards with a touchdown and a 143.8 passer rating before the injury. He was sacked three times, including the sack when he was injured. Tannehill has missed five games this season after sustaining a shoulder injury earlier in the season. He missed all of the 2017 season with a knee injury.Miami has had success against the Patriots with the running attack thus far, with 12 carries leading to 142 yards with two touchdowns. Frank Gore leads the way with six carries for 54 yards, while Brandon Bolden has two carries for 60 yards and two touchdowns. The game is currently at halftime Miami Dolphins T-Shirt , with the Patriots leading 27-21.UPDATE: Tannehill returned to the game after halftime.

That game also brought injuries to the forefront of everyone’s mind in South Florida, as the Dolphins’ swath of absences due to injuries is beginning to take a toll on this team. When the Dolphins travel to Cincinnati this weekend, one player on the opposing team is sure to attempt to take advantage of Miami’s ailing secondary. Each week of the 2018 season, I’m highlighting one player on the opposing team that Dolphins fans should be watching out for. Across from Green, Boyd has compiled 26 receptions for 349 yards and two touchdowns across four contests. He also has one rushing attempt for five yards. With starting tight end Tyler Eifert going down last week, Boyd will be even more heavily relied on in the passing game, meaning his statistical production is sure to balloon further.Key MatchupsAs I mentioned above, the Dolphins have endured an unfortunate number injures in such a short period of time. The team has lost starting guard Josh Sitton, starting center Daniel Kilgore, starting tight end MarQueis Gray, and run-stopping maven William Hayes to season ending injuries. On top of that, defensive end Andre Branch, wide receiver DeVante Parker, safety Reshad Jones, and tight end A.J. Derby have all missed (or will miss) significant time. Yet Womens Jakeem Grant Jersey , there’s one specific injury that will be a major detriment in Miami’s attempt to stifle Boyd, and that is to Bobby McCain’s knee.McCain, Miami’s #2 cornerback, went down against the Patriots last week with a knee injury that is likely to sideline him for several games. With McCain out and budding star Xavien Howard likely to have his hands full with Green, the Dolphins will need to rely on Torry McTyer to cover Boyd. While McTyer has proven himself serviceable, he simply doesn’t have the experience or polish of McCain, meaning the Dolphins may have to provide him with extra help from defensive backs Minkah Fitzpatrick and Reshad Jones (if Jones is available to play this weekend). Whatever defensive coordinator Matt Burke cooks up, it will have to be creative to cover up what is shaping out to be a depleted roster. The Miami Dolphins’ offense has struggled this year. They are 26th in the league in total offense, averaging 334.3 yards per game, 23rd in passing offense with 226.3 yards per game, 17th in rushing offense with 108.0 yards per game, and 23rd in scoring with 21.8 points per game. They have been beaten up on offense, playing games with starters at quarterback, wide receiver, tight end, and along the offensive line. They have struggled to find a rhythm this year, and they are not the high-powered, speed based offense that was originally designed before the season. But, that does not matter because a dominant defense will carry the team. Except , that dominant defense has yet to show up. This defense, where the only real preseason question was the linebackers, has turned into a mess with presumed starters falling off the map, Pro Bowl players struggling, and no one in the secondary seeming to know who to cover. The defense ranks 27th overall, allowing 408.0 yards per game, 20th against the pass allowing 264.9 yards per game, 30th in the league against the run with 143.1 yards per game given up, and 27th in the league in scoring defense with 27.4 the average points allowed this year. Miami’s vaunted defense is quickly collapsing on itself.“It’s not good on defense,” head coach Adam Gase said after Thursday night’s 42-23 loss at the Houston Texans. “I mean they did whatever they wanted.”Miami allowed 188 yards on the ground on Thursday, with the Texans averaging 5.4 yards per carry. “Right now, I am going to have to look at everything,” Gase said of Miami’s inability to stop the run. “It’s about the only good thing about playing on Thursday night is it’s like an extra bye week. Go back this weekend and try to look through everything, see where a lot of the problems are and look at it as a whole, not just one game, and try to get an answer.”Gase discussed his current trust level with the defense, explaining, “Well, I know those guys work hard Womens Frank Gore Jersey , and they try to get everything patched up as fast as possible. I mean, these guys were hired because I liked them when we were coming into this situation we were in. When Vance [Joseph] left, I trusted Matt [Burke] to get this thing going in the right direction and prove from there before. There was a lot of good thing sthat happened over the last two years. We’ve just got to figure out what is our issues. I mean, it is players? Is it scheme? We have to evaluate that. We can’t be afraid to change if we have to.”Gase has not ruled out anything - or anyone - being changed. Asked if he would consider any changes to his coaching staff, Gase answered, “I’m going to reevaluate everything this weekend. We’ve got the extended weekend. We’ve got to figure out how to get better on defense. We’ve got to figure out how to sustain drives and put it in the end zone on offense.” Directly asked if defensive coordinator Matt Burke’s position could be in danger, Gase did not definitively say no as he replied, “I haven’t even thought about that. In my head, I’m saying I don’t see that happening. We need to go back and figure out what is going on to where we’re giving up these massive amounts of yardage in the run game.”Burke has - rightfully - taken a lot of heat from the fans and media as the Miami defense continues to collapse. Gase addressed if he feels he has to take more of a personal role with the defense, stating, “I’ll get to that after tonight. I’m not there yet.”The Dolphins have to find a way to fix the defense. There are plenty of issues on offense, but the defense should not be giving up 188 yards on the ground routinely. Right now, it feels like that is the norm. It is not only the rush defense, as Miami gave up 239 passing yards with five touchdowns, but the ground game definitely feels like the most immediate issue to be addressed. If they do not find answers during this 10-day break, this season will go from frustrating to abysmal very quickly. Whatever those answers are - coaching, scheme, players - they have to make those changes now.

It's another opportunity this week to do what we desire to do."The first-place Steelers (4-2-1) have won three straight after a 1-2-1 start. Their last loss came Sept. 30 against the Ravens at Heinz Field, as the Steelers converted 2-of-12 third downs and rushed for just 19 yards in that game."I don't think there would be any player that would say they felt like they played their best game," Steelers' offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner said. "And when we had a chance to look back through it, we were pretty critical of what we did and what we didn't do. It was a pretty good eye-opener."The Steelers offense has found its stride since then, while Baltimore (4-4) has lost three of four. "It's one of those environments you love to excel in. I'm looking forward to the opportunity to go out and compete this weekend."NOTES: Steelers CBs Coty Sensabaugh (toe) and Artie Burns (ankle) are both questionable for Sunday's game, while OT Marcus Gilbert (knee) is doubtful. On Sunday Cheap Joe Flacco Jersey , he got caught in the Browns' numbers crunch.Nassib and fellow veteran defensive lineman Jamie Meder were the two most notable players waived by Cleveland, which has overhauled its roster under general manager John Dorsey following a historic 0-16 season.A 2016 third-round pick, Nassib had a memorable appearance on HBO's "Hard Knocks" this summer when he gave investment tips during a meeting to teammates while using some colorful language. He started 12 games and recorded three sacks for Cleveland last season, but the Browns are rebuilding and Nassib isn't part of the transformation.Meder, too, is looking for a new team. A Cleveland-area native, Meder had been with the Browns since being signed to the practice squad. He started 16 of 43 games and made his biggest impact by blocking a field goal in the waning moment of a Christmas Eve game in 2016 against San Diego that secured the Browns' only win in the past two seasons under coach Hue Jackson. The team also waived offensive lineman Austin Reiter, linebacker Jermaine Grace and defensive back Jeremiah McKinnon. As expected, Dorsey was active on the waiver wire, claiming five players: defensive linemen Carl Davis (Baltimore) and Ifeadi Odenigbo (Minnesota), offensive lineman Aaron Neary (Los Angeles Rams) Cheap C.J. That does not happen unless you have a plan," Dorsey said. "That plan was developed in mid-January with the input of the coaches and the personnel staff putting this thing together. Once we identified what we needed, we used whatever resources that were available."Of course, when you are sitting in the No. 1 waiver claim position, you always go attack the final two or three claims and see what is out there. We thought that it would be best if we picked up five players who we think could help this team. • zhangzk ha creado el nuevo tema » Thomas Davis said Carolina's most recent loss coul en los foros.
That's why Davis thanked Steelers coach Mike Tomlin at midfield for "humbling" the Panthers after his team put up 52 points on Carolina's once-vaunted defense last Thursday night. The 13-year NFL veteran explained Wednesday that the embarrassing performance might have been just what Carolina (6-3) needed to regain its focus on defense Youth Jon Bostic Jersey , for players to get on the same page and make a playoff run beginning this Sunday when the Panthers visit the Lions."If you are true competitor, you want to bounce back and you want to do something about it," Davis said. "I'm a competitor and I want to get that taste out of my mouth."The Panthers have been a perennial top 10 defense since middle linebacker Luke Kuechly's arrival in 2012, making their performance against Pittsburgh all that much more surprising. The Steelers scored on seven of their first eight possessions; the only time they failed to do so was when they took a knee before halftime to run out the clock."It's not something that happens a lot around here," Kuechly said of surrendering 52 points.Things have gone so well for Carolina on defense in recent years that the last two coordinators left to take head coaching jobs 鈥?Sean McDermott in Buffalo and Steve Wilks in Arizona. But things aren't going so well for Eric Washington, Carolina's third defensive coordinator in three seasons. The Panthers are 15th in the league overall and 31st in red zone defense.Washington said a "myriad of things" went wrong against the Steelers."We had execution issues," said Washington, the team's defensive line coach from 2011-2017. "... We have calls, we have leverage, we have gap responsibility. We have things that we have to do from one down to the next in terms of our assignment. And we did not get that done."Washington's body of work as a defensive line coach was impressive.Since 2012, the Panthers have more gotten more sacks from their defensive linemen (234) than any team in the league. So for the Panthers to have only 22 sacks this season is disappointing to him."We're his pride and joy," defensive tackle Kawann Short said. "That's one of those things where he demands more out of us, and he knows what every guy in that room is capable of."The Panthers didn't watch game film from Steelers loss as a team, instead electing to move on to preparations for Detroit. But Short said it feels like players are trying to do too much on their own instead of playing as a team."We just need to light our hair on fire, and just go," Short said.Washington called the Steelers game an "anomaly," guaranteeing the Panthers will rectify their problems. When players returned from a long weekend off he reminded them of this team's long-standing identity as a defensive power, as well as the amount of talent in the locker room. Along with defensive end Julius Peppers Womens Cameron Heyward Jersey , Kuechly has a chance to be a Hall of Famer."We have a high opinion of what we should be able to do every time we step on the football field," Washington said.Kuechly said now it's time to focus on Detroit."One game doesn't define a season," Kuechly said. "And I don't think you can waste time thinking about something in the past when you play a good team this week." Week 10 was kicked off at Heinz Field with a duel between two teams who were red-hot coming into this Thursday Night Football contest. The visiting Carolina Panthers were winners of their previous three games, with the host Pittsburgh Steelers winning their previous four. Something had to give, and after the Panthers failed to nail the coin toss, the Steelers elected to defer to the second half, giving Cam Newton and company the football first to start the game.It didn’t take the Panthers long to strike first. After three huge runs by Christian McCaffrey, the Steelers’ defense looked to have held the Panthers to a field goal, but Ron Rivera elected to go for it on 4th and 1. McCaffrey got two on the fourth down play, and following the first down Newton hit McCaffrey on a swing pass for a 20 yard touchdown. With less than 5 minutes gone in the first quarter, the Panthers took a 7-0 lead.On the Steelers’ first play from scrimmage, Ben Roethlisberger hit JuJu Smith-Schuster over the top for a stunning 75 yard catch and run for a touchdown. After the Chris Boswell point after, the game was tied 7-7 in the blink of an eye.Newton and company took the field deep in their own end after a holding call on the ensuing kickoff. When Newton tried to roll to his right, he was met by T.J. Watt in the endzone. Rather than taking a sack for a safety, he tried to force the ball to a receiver, only to have it picked off by Vince Williams and returned for a touchdown. In the blink of an eye, the Steelers went from trailing 7-0, to leading 14-7. After the Pittsburgh defense forced a three-and-out Youth Alejandro Villanueva Jersey , and the Steelers did what they had been doing every time they got the ball — scored touchdowns.

On the team’s first real offensive drive, it was a beautiful mix of short passes to Antonio Brown, a JuJu Smith-Schuster reverse and several punishing James Conner runs. The drive was capped off when Conner rumbled into the endzone for a two-yard touchdown giving the Steelers a 21-7 lead. After a Carolina drive resulted in yet another punt, Roethlisberger and company went back to work and were able to add to their lead. This drive, which started at their own 8 yard line, had a little bit of everything. Roosevelt Nix had two receptions, and Antonio Brown burned the entire defense to get the team into field goal range. However, that is where the drive stalled, and a Chris Boswell 50-yard field goal made the score 24-7.Needing a drive to stay in the game, Newton and McCaffrey responded in a big way by hitting McCaffrey again for his second receiving touchdown of the game with about 5:00 left on the clock in the second quarter.5 minutes left on the clock, and two timeouts, was a lot of time left on the clock, and the Steelers wouldn’t even need that much time to strike again. After a key third down pass to Ryan Switzer, Roethlisberger hit Antonio Brown for a bomb down the sideline for the Steelers touchdown. The Boswell point after kick made the score 31-17 with 3 minutes left in the first half. The 31-17 score would hold into halftime. The second half started with the Steelers getting the football, and doing what they’ve done the entire game to this point. Roethlisberger continued to be money on third downs, hitting Switzer and Smith-Schuster for key conversions, and capped the drive off with a touchdown pass to Vance McDonald. The Boswell point after was good, giving the Steelers a 38-14 lead with 8 minutes left in the third quarter.Pittsburgh’s defense continued to harass Newton every time he dropped back to pass Womens Artie Burns Jersey , and a big sack by Bud Dupree resulted in another three-and-out. When the Steelers’ offense had the football, they did one thing with it — add to their lead. This drive was no different. Roethlisberger continued to make several key third down completions, but the most controversial play happened on a 3rd and 8 when Roethlisberger scrambled for the first down, and while sliding Justin Reid hit him high with his shoulder. Reid was ejected from the game, and two plays later Roethlisberger hit Jesse James for his 4th touchdown pass of the night to make the score 45-14 at the end of the third quarter. After the latest Steelers’ score, Roosevelt Nix caused a fumble on the ensuing kickoff, which was recovered by Anthony Chickillo at the 9 yard line. Two plays later and Roethlisberger hit rookie Jaylen Samuels for a nifty catch-and-run for the touchdown. The Boswell point after made the score 52-14 in the early minutes of the fourth quarter. This would end Roethlisberger’s night, and the Steelers started to empty their benches with B.J. Finney going in for Maurkice Pouncey, Joshua Dobbs in for Roethlisberger and many defenders getting some rest in the waning minutes of the game.In garbage time, Newton and McCaffrey stayed in the game and were able to put together a scoring drive resulting in a McCaffrey touchdown run, his third touchdown of the game, making the score 52-21.The score would hold as the final. The win for the Steelers advances their record to 6-2-1, and now they have the ability to rest this weekend while the Cincinnati Bengals play the New Orleans Saints on Sunday. On top of that, the team will have extra time to prepare for the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 11 in Duval county.Stay tuned to BTSC for the latest news and notes surrounding the Steelers as they continue to press on throughout the regular season.
