Ask the men he coaches what makes Pittsburgh Steelers offensive coordinator Randy Fichtner tick Arizona Cardinals T-Shirt , and you get a variation of the same response. He's a dude. A good dude. But just a dude."There's nothing special or outrageous or eccentric," guard David DeCastro said. And that might be exactly what the Steelers need after six highly productive if occasionally volatile seasons with Todd Haley calling the plays. On the surface Fichtner and his predecessor could not be more different. The sometimes combustible Haley wasn't one to hide his emotions and followed a personal mandate to wear shorts at every practice regardless of the weather.Fichtner, promoted from quarterbacks coach to coordinator in January after the team allowed Haley's contract to expire, takes a decidedly more even-keel approach. The most recent time he remembers truly losing it on the field came during the 2010 season opener against Atlanta. When Rashard Mendenhall crossed the goal line for a walk-off win, Fichtner leapt into the air and jokes he may have pulled his hamstring in the process. To be fair, the 54-year-old Fichtner can still move a little bit. He finished practice on Thursday by playfully dropping into coverage as a safety while the first-team offense went through a quick walkthrough after the defense left the field.Unlike Haley, Fichtner makes more conservative choices, at least sartorially. While Haley showed off his calves, Fichtner is usually in sweats, a long-sleeved undershirt and a pullover as he was on Wednesday even as temperatures soared into the 90s.The thing is, Fichtner didn't really look uncomfortable. Probably a good thing considering the stakes of his new gig.He takes over one of the league's most star-laden offenses, even with All-Pro running back Le'Veon Bell out while waiting ... and waiting ... to sign his one-year franchise tender. All Fichtner has to do is design an attack that will produce a fifth consecutive playoff berth and 鈥?the team hopes 鈥?its first trip to the Super Bowl in eight years.Asked if he's ready to be second-guessed every Monday and Fichtner smiled."Sure, absolutely, comes with it Arizona Cardinals Hats ," Fichtner said. "I get it."He's been there before, just not for a while. He's a football lifer. His father Ross was a quarterback at Purdue then spent eight seasons as a cornerback for the Cleveland Browns in the 1960s. Randy didn't wander far afield. He played briefly at Purdue then went immediately into coaching after graduation. His nomadic climb up the ladder included four years at Arkansas State from 1997-2000, where he crossed paths with a young defensive backs coach whose energy and edge Fichtner couldn't help but be drawn to.So when that young defensive backs coach called in 2006 and offered Fichtner a job in the NFL, Fichtner figured there was no way he could tell Mike Tomlin no.More than a decade later, the partnership is still going and is one of the main reasons Fichtner stayed in Pittsburgh rather than chase other opportunities."That's just, my relationship with Mike," Fichtner said. "I told him when I came, I told him 'I'm coming for you' and since I've been here, I'm all-in for the (owners) and the organization also. Makes it a couple of reasons. I've always felt I've been content with jobs that I've had and I'm content and just do the best I can."Having some of the most talented players at his disposal doesn't hurt either. Fichtner has developed a strong bond with quarterback Ben Roethlisberger, who figures to given plenty of leeway to run the no-huddle as he pleases when the Steelers open the season in Cleveland on Sunday."I'm sure he's quite capable of making the right decisions at the right time," Fichtner said. "He's done it in the past and I don't see it being any different in the future."Still, even Roethlisberger is a bit curious how different things will be with Fichtner's voice coming through his helmet instead of Haley's."I don't know," Roethlisberger said. "We'll see. That's the question everyone wants to find out. What's Randy's personality? What are his tendencies? We'll all find out on Sunday I guess."Josh Dobbs, who credited Fichtner's tutelage for helping him supplant Landry Jones as Roethlisberger's primary backup coming out of training camp Arizona Cardinals Womens Hoodie , is curious to see how willing Fichtner will be to let the creativity he shows during meetings come to life on the field.Yet for all of Fichtner's "just one of the guys" persona, Dobbs allows there's a fire underneath even if it's imperceptible on the practice field. Just start watching film with Fichtner. The joking stops, at least briefly, replaced by Fichtner's inner perfectionist."When you get in the meeting room, he flips and he's the most passionate guy every single play," Dobbs said. "It's 'Do this and it's a touchdown. This is what we can do.'"The self-described "old dude" understands he's an unknown quantity outside the locker room. He's not inside the locker room. His role has changed. His approach has not."He's probably wanted to be an OC for a long time," Dobbs said. "So to get to that position where he's the guy calling plays and game-planning and to see him not change is really good. He's the same guy, bringing energy. ... I think that shows in how he attacks the field."NOTES: Tomlin said he does not plan to outline the team's plan for Bell with Bell's representative. Bell's agent Adisa Bakari said Wednesday they wanted to discuss Bell's usage before Bell reports. "I don't communicate with agents regarding how I utilize players," Tomlin said. Raiders week three report card vs Dolphins If you were to look at the week three boxscore you would think the Raiders completely dominated the Dolphins. They racked up 434 total yards of offense Womens Leon Hall Jersey , picked up 25 first downs, possessed the ball for just over 38 minutes, and ran 74 plays on offense to the Dolphins 39.Unfortunately, for the Raiders the scoreboard told the only story that matters.Once again the Raiders had a complete fourth quarter meltdown after a strong first half. The Raiders were outscored 14-3 in the fourth. On the season they have been outscored by opponents 37-3.The Raiders are now 0-3.They will head back home to host the Cleveland Browns in week four. Let’s take a look at the Raiders report card for week three.Aerial Attack: C+A week after setting an NFL record for completion percentage, Derek Carr once again finds himself squarely in the cross hairs of an unhappy fan base. For the most part, Carr played very well.He completed 27 of 39 passes for 345 yards and one touchdown.Trailing 21-17, late in the fourth quarter, on the Dolphins 13 yard line, Carr threw his second interception of the game ending any hopes the Raiders had for a win.I took major points off the grade for the crucial turnover. After two weeks of little to no production, Derek Carr and Jordy Nelson were able to get on the same page.Nelson had himself a huge game catching six passes for 173 yards and a touchdown.Outside of Nelson’s 173 yards Womens Derek Carrier Jersey , the rest of the Raiders receivers and backs were able to manage only 21 receptions for 172 yards.Amari Cooper was shut down with two catches for 17 yards.Ground Game: B-The Raiders have yet to establish a consistent run game in any of their first three games.Part of the blame goes on the offensive line not getting enough push. You certainly can’t fault Marshawn Lynch, he is running as angry as ever but with little production.Yards were hard to come by for Lynch, gaining only 64 yards on 19 carries. Doug Martin did well with his limited touches, gaining 43 yards with a 4.8 yards per carry average.Keith Smith was stuffed for no gain on his lone carry of the game.On fourth and one, on the Dolphins one yard line, Jon Gruden foolishly called a fullback dive to Smith that was met for no gain.Offensive line: C+With the amount of money invested in the offensive line there is no excuse for the lack of production in the run game.109 yards on 32 carries is not going to cut it.The offenses is relying too much on the arm of Derek Carr and the offensive line needs to step up and allow the run game to be the focal point.A great example of the lack of push the line gets was on the fourth and goal in the first quarter when fullback Keith Smith was stuffed at the one yard line.Kolton Miller had a crushing false start penalty in the second the second quarter. With the ball on the Dolphins two yard line, the penalty prevented the Raiders from scoring a touchdown and instead had to settle for a field goal.Derek Carr also took some big hits throughout the game, getting sacked three times.Donald Penn was lost for the game with a concussion in the first quarter.Defensive line: B-I think it’s fair to say that a B- for a group that generated zero pass rush is being very generous, even if they held the Dolphins run game to 41 yards. The lack of pass rush continues to be a major area of concern for the Raiders. They may need to look to add a free agent sooner rather than later to address the weakness.Clinton McDonald collected the groups only sack. Linebackers: C-Ryan Tannehill attacked the linebackers and the middle of the field in the passing game.Tannehill was able to dink and dunk the ball down the field with little resistance. The big play in the game was on a Dolphins trick play.A reverse pass that ended in a 52-yard Jakeem Grant touchdown.Tahir Whitehead fell for the reverse which allowed Grant to run down the sideline uncovered. Secondary: CThe script continues to be the same for the secondary.Early in the game they show flashes of play making ability, but late in the game when stops are needy they can’t get it done.Marcus Gilchrist missed a tackle on Jakeem Grant’s 52-yard touchdown reception which could have kept the Dolphins from scoring a touchdown. The Raiders allowed 332 yards passing and three touchdowns on 18 completions.Special Teams: DIt was a rough day at the office for the special teams.Lousy punts Womens Kolton Miller Jersey , penalties, and lack of production in the return game will earn you a D.There were two plays that stand out to me as being particularly bad.The first one, a punt return that Dwayne Harris did not field, but teammate Dominique Rodgers-Cromartie thought would be wise to pick up the ball inside his own 10.To make matters worse, Harris was called for an illegal block after a terrible return. The second was a Johnny Townsend punt.Punting from his own 45-yard line, Townsend badly needed to pin the Dolphins back deep.He was unable to do so and the result was a 25-yard punt. The Dolphins began their drive on the 30-yard line.Overall Grade: CRaiders head coach Jon Gruden gets his first win in ten years ‘feels like my first win in 100 years’ November 30, 2008. That was the last time Jon Gruden was on the winning end of a football game as an NFL head coach. After that he lost 7-straight. Although the last three came a long time after the first four and for two different teams. That streak ended today. It wasn’t easy. And at times it looked hopeless. And in fitting fashion, it simply couldn’t come in regulation. After starting his return to the Raiders with three straight losses. Jon Gruden finally notched his first win, beating the Browns 45-42 in overtime.Tasting victory as ahead coach is something Gruden hasn’t felt in a very long time. A decade in fact. That’s when he last roamed the sideline as head coach of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. After that he was a mainstay for nine years in the Monday Night Football booth, while running his Fired Football Coaches Association and pouring over NFL game tape. All that time Youth Justin Ellis Jersey , he knew he would eventually want to take another shot at being a head coach. He had to know that playing Monday morning quarterback and second guessing other coaches’ decisions was a lot easier than having to make those decisions himself and have them second guessed by everyone else.Ten years is a long time away. Made even longer when your return starts with 3-straight losses, all in heartbreaking fashion.“It feels like my first win in 100 years. It’s great to be back. I thank our fans for hanging in there with us. There was a lot of ups and downs, but to get that field goal from our third-string kicker, back-up long snapper. I’ve never been so nervous on a 29-yard field goal in my life.”The nervousness comes in part due to that same undrafted rookie kicker having already missed two field goals in this game, one of which in overtime. But there’s no question the bulk of it comes from how difficult it would be to come form behind several times, in unlikely fashion, only to see it all end in another loss, just like the first three.Along with the winless monkey off his back, Gruden’s Raiders didn’t fade down the stretch as they had in their first three games. But just as he seemed to keep a positive outlook over those losses, Gruden isn’t letting this win convince him this team is past their issues.“We haven’t fixed anything yet. We have a lot of things we have to get better at. I think it is pretty obvious Womens Jordy Nelson Jersey ,” said Gruden of the fourth quarter play. “We played some good football for stints. We played good football in Miami. We played some good football against the Rams. We had some really good tape against Denver, but we have tape that needs to be fixed. That’s the same thing that I think we will see today. We have some guys that are really eager to work, we have good leadership and we going to continue to do it. It was really fun to score and win a game and to get that monkey off our back.”It’s a time for celebration, mainly because of the relief of getting that first win out of the way. But it will be short lived. The season goes on and one win doesn’t mean much if it doesn’t lead to more.“We are going to celebrate tonight, but we have to get ready for Philip [Rivers] and the Chargers,” sad Gruden. “We are really happy, we are proud, we are excited. There is a lot to be thankful for.”Follow @LeviDamien

How every NFC South team but the Falcons fared in Week 2 It’s common knowledge in sports that Womens Robert Alford Jersey , if you take care of your own business, you don’t have to worry about anybody else as far as the standings are concerned. While this is entirely true, getting some help along the way is never a bad thing. This column will be completely dedicated to the results of the other three NFC South teams throughout the season, and hopefully we’ll be able to bask in their failures together. Here is how the Falcons’ division opponents fared in Week 2:Tampa Bay Buccaneers 27, Philadelphia Eagles 21What’s going on down in Tampa? Ryan Fitzpatrick, who’s only playing because starting quarterback Jameis Winston is in the middle of a three-game suspension, has been the most impressive QB in the NFC two weeks in.“Fitzmagic” sliced and diced the vaunted Philadelphia Eagles defense to the tune of 402 passing yards and four touchdowns. The Bucs led by as much as 20 at one point, and managed to fight off a Philly comeback attempt to move to 2-0 on the season.Tampa Bay was powered by 75+ yard, game-breaking, touchdown catches from DeSean Jackson and OJ Howard in this one Womens Ryan Schraeder Jersey , gashing an Eagles defense that stifled the Falcons last week. That same defense gave up 436 yards this week.I think it’s safe to say that the Bucs have been the surprise team in the NFL two weeks into the new season. After difficult matchups in New Orleans and against the Eagles, Tampa Bay is not only surviving this difficult early-season stretch, but they’re thriving. It would be difficult to see the Bucs putting Fitzpatrick back on the bench after Winston returns.New Orleans Saints 21, Cleveland Browns 18Zane Gonzalez whyyyyyy?! The New Orleans Saints escaped an embarrassing defeat at the hands of the Cleveland Browns thanks to a lot of luck. Cleveland’s kicker, Gonzalez, missed two field goals and two extra point attempts, leaving eight points on the board in a game where his team lost by three.A week after their defense got gashed repeatedly, it was New Orleans’ offense which almost didn’t show up this time around. Even with a late surge which ended up winning them the game, the Saints only managed to muster 275 yards of total offense.Up by six, with the Browns facing a decisive 4th-and-5 on the back end of the 2-minute warning , New Orleans gave up a 47-yard touchdown catch to Antonio Callaway on a picturesque pass by Tyrod Taylor. With a chance to take the lead, Gonzalez missed the PAT. Following a Field Goal drive by Drew Brees and company, the Browns once again fought their way downfield and gave Gonzalez a chance at redemption in the form of a 52-yard potential game-tying Field Goal. He missed. The Saints are lucky to have won this game, as the Browns led 12-3 at one point in the fourth quarter. A win is a win, however, and the Saints pulled it out. Michael Thomas scored two more touchdowns to build on his impressive start to the season.NFC South Standings after Week 2Tampa Bay Buccaneers (2-0 overall record; 1-0 divisional record) - Next vs. SteelersAtlanta Falcons (1-1 overall record; 1-0 divisional record) - Next vs. SaintsCarolina Panthers (1-1 overall record; 0-1 divisional record) - Next vs. BengalsNew Orleans Saints (1-1 overall record; 0-1 divisional record) - Next at FalconsKeanu Neal exits game with knee injury, accompanying dread The Atlanta Falcons have not had a good football game, and now they may have lost one of their best defenders. Keanu Neal is out of the game with a knee injury, and a non-contact knee injury, at that.Neal was down earlier in the game with a leg injury but was able to return , which was a huge relief at the time. This time, he’s not coming back, and that’s not at all encouraging. I’m not even going to write aloud what a non-contact knee injury often means for players and just hope for the best, as I hope all of you will. Damontae Kazee was the preseason hero for Atlanta and can now try to build on that rock solid exhibition season, as he’ll play the rest of this one at strong safety in Neal’s stead. Please stay healthy, Atlanta, because I don’t think my heart can take much more of this in the very first game of the season.

Our neverending conquest of trying to figure out this Detroit Lions team continues. We Detroit Lions T-Shirt , along with every other Lions fan, have had a hard time predicting what will happen on a week-to-week basis. The Lions face off against the Minnesota Vikings this week, a team that has been almost as confusing as Detroit. The Vikings have taken care of business against teams like the 49ers, Jets and Cardinals Detroit Lions Hats , but they lost an embarrassing game to the Bills, and they have yet to show they can compete with the class of the NFL—dropping games to the Rams and Saints, while just tying to the Packers. That hasn’t changed the opinion of most of our staff, however. The Denver Broncos (3-4) are ten-point underdogs on the road to their AFC West rival Kansas City Chiefs (6-1) and will need to play their best game of the year to have a chance to win this game.Currently Youth Royce Freeman Jersey , the Broncos rank fifth in total DVOA through seven games, which is surprising given their record. That would suggest they are better than their record, but they definitely need a signature win against a good team to prove it. Winning this game would fit that signature win criteria. To do that, they’ll need to overcome a slew of injured player that include Darian Stewart, Royce Freeman, and Shane Ray. And they would need to do it in a hostile Arrowhead Stadium environment against a team that has set the NFL offensive world on fire in 2018. It all comes down to playing a perfect game with perfect coaching. Here’s to pulling off the impossible!Broncos vs. Chiefs live updatesGame Info / Live UpdatesEverything we know Tweets from What a well deserved win for Broncos Country and for the Broncos players. I love the story of this game: Von’s guarantee, the drummed up drama about how terrible the team is (which isn’t true...but more on that later), and the suspense that led up to this game.I really felt like this was a huge game for the team. If the Broncos didn’t win, this was going to be the final nail in the coffin from me on the Bronco’s season. I’ve already made it pretty clear what I think about the coaching staff in my previous reviews. So now we have something to look forward to if only for a couple more weeks.OffenseThis game was like a microcosm of the season for me when I look at how the offense was called and executed. The team very obviously has a great deal of talent in players like Phillip Lindsay, Emmanuel Sanders, Matt Paradis, and Courtland Sutton. At times, that talent shines for impactful, big plays. I even like how some of the play design works that goes into those big plays. The way Bill Musgrave uses motion, personnel grouping Cheap Derek Wolfe Jersey , and different action out of the same formations is something we haven’t seen from our offense in years. But the big problem with the offense is how it is called. Our site has been harping on this for weeks: why do you keep passing the ball when the biggest liability on the offense is your quarterback? Why do we not lean on the running game more that is so obviously working with both Royce Freeman and Phillip Lindsay? Why do we have Freeman run on early long-to-go downs, and have Lindsay run on short yardage situations? When we are up by multiple scores, why do we keep 11 personnel out there and run into heavy boxes?None of this impacted this game because we faced a team with clearly inferior talent and ability to match up to us in any area of the game. But let me leave it at this: the Broncos keep losing close games largely in part to Musgrave not being aggressive early and leaning on a very potent run game.QuarterbacksCase Keenum is still JAG when it comes to playing QB. We saw a lot more effective offense overall, but his throws are still not accurate. He’s still staring down picks into double coverage. I found his play in this game very underwhelming.Yes, we can win lots of games this way. We did this all season back in 2015. But it will be in spite of, not because of the play we see at quarterback.LineThere’s not a lot I have to complain about from this offensive line. Our young guards in Max Garcia and Connor McGovern played well. Our tackles held the edges well enough. It wasn’t overly impressive, but it wasn’t a big issue that was leading to sacks and multiple TFLs in the run game. But let me say this: there’s been lots of whining in the MSM (especially if you listen to the local radio stations in Denver). It is largely nonsense. Stink takes a duece on Bolles’ game every other day and it is absolute hyperbole. Others as well have called out the line as being weak. I just don’t see that. Billy Turner is the best right tackle we’ve seen in 2 years. Connor McGovern is playing mostly enlightened football at RG. Matt Paradis is still one of the best centers in the league. And everyone’s favorite punching bag, Garett Bolles has a holding issue, but outside of that plays pretty decently at left tackle (yes he needs technique his play late in games and tell me how bad he sucks...I’ll wait).Running BacksPhillip Lindsay is a masterpiece of a weapon. Who is Christian McCaffrey?I don’t know...and I don’t care. We have a more impactful player in this young stud who went undrafted. The guy is not a football player...he is a football weapon. More of the team’s offense needs to develop plays to get him in space. He needs to be one of the focal points of the offense because it will open everything else up.Royce Freeman has had his 2nd rough game of the season in a row. I would point out that one of the big things they need to do is give him formations with more blockers. Musgrave keeps running him into stacked boxes in -1 situations expecting him to flat out beat a defender who has a free run at him. That’s not how this works. Freeman is not Barry Sanders. He needs blockers to hold up the bad guys and give him creases to work with.ReceiversBig shout out to Emmanuel Sanders. Sanders has been one of my favorite players to watch on the field since he’s joined the Broncos. He plays all out every game and just like Lindsay, he’s a very dangerous player with the ball in his hands in open space. I loved the trick play call and that Sanders got to throw a TD. I guess I’d just have loved it more against KC next week instead of a hapless Arizona team that I don’t think we needed tricks to beat.DefenseThis was easily the best defensive game I’ve seen from the Broncos in more than a year. We turned the ball over, stopped the run, and had sublime pass coverage. I don’t know if it was Joe Woods or Vance Joseph calling the plays, but they did a solid job.More importantly, I saw SUPREME effort from the defensive players. They looked hungry and wanted to eat the opposing team’s children (H/T Derek Wolfe).Front 7The run defense problem we’ve seen recently wasn’t the fault of the linemen, but they absolutely killed it up front in this game. The Broncos have switched to more of a space-eating front with Domata Peko Youth Garett Bolles Jersey , Derek Wolfe, and Adam Gotsis. They looked the part in this game clogging holes and creating time for the linebackers to crash down and bottle up the run with them.SecondaryBradley Roby was possessed in this game. That was not him playing football. The ghost of Deion Sanders straight up took him over and drove him like he was playing Madden (shush...I know Deion is still alive鈥?just roll with it). If Roby can play like this the rest of the season, we can make the playoffs. He attacked the ball, turned his head on time, every time he was defending, and stayed in stride with every guy he lined up with.Chris Harris, Jr. is always awesome. He had a superb pick-6 that I saw coming from a mile away. The guy deserved a play like that honestly. He is only one guy that does his job at the highest level every week and when the ball never comes your way (because there are far easier targets out there), it has to be frustrating when you want to win ball games.Special TeamsBrandon McManus needs some love every week he keeps batting a thousand. It is pretty refreshing and completely unexpected to see a guy kick so well every week.Final ThoughtsNext week is now the telling game. Can Denver go into KC and steal a win from one of the NFL’s best teams? They absolutely can. But I would argue all they need to do is play them competitively and it is a win for us.It starts with the Broncos learning from their loss to KC a few weeks ago. They can’t just all out rush Patrick Mahomes. They need to treat him like they do Russell Wilson and form a pocket around him, then collapse it instead of allowing him to escape and extend plays.Aside from that, the most important thing is that the coaching staff keeps working on being better. They should not at all pat themselves on the back for this win. They still have the same flaws from a coaching aspect and they need to put the players in position to win instead of fitting round pegs in square holes.Either way, this was a heck of a fun game to watch as a fan. I’m encouraged to see more games like this in the future because I can tell that the team has a great deal of talent by what they did this week. What about you, Broncos Country? Well deserved win? When Ian St. Clair and I sat down to record the MHR Radio podcast on Tuesday night Youth Jared Veldheer Jersey , it was apparent that one thing would dominate our conversation. When the Denver Broncos traded Demaryius Thomas away to the Houston Texans it was kind of like the end of an era. Obviously, we as a community have gone about saying goodbye, and thank you. On Sunday, DT will have his chance to give one last goodbye.Thomas has been a huge part of the Denver Broncos since being drafted in with the 22nd pick in 2010. His relationship with Tim Tebow led to one of the biggest playoff moments in Broncos history. Then, as Peyton Manning entered the mix his numbers skyrocketed. They garnered him a big contract, and now, here we all are.Make no mistake, the loss of Thomas to salary and age concerns is one of the frustrating aspects of the NFL that plagues most teams. That doesn’t prevent fans like the great Dr. Laurie Lattimore-Volkmann from feeling betrayed, and dismayed at the move. Check out Doc’s little (large) epic rant on Thomas in the podcast. His legacy with the team was cemented long ago, but now it is time to say goodbye.Perhaps most fittingly, Thomas will get the chance to issue his final goodbye to Broncos Country on Sunday when his new team comes to Mile High Stadium to face off with his old team. The Texans needed a replacement for the injured Will Fuller Ronald Leary Jersey , and Thomas should fill that void nicely. As Ian and I said on the show, he will probably give the team a proper send off, with a big DT game. With the way the Broncos secondary has performed this season, there is no reason to think he can’t have a huge impact. Bradley Roby has struggled. and will likely draw Thomas several times. Their practice battles will now be game time scraps. He is going to want to prove he is still capable. No doubt he will get his targets, and his chance to shine.Watching players like Thomas move on is frustrating. More frustrating will be watching him be great again with a good quarterback to throw him the football. Deshaun Watson has the Houston offense firing. Throwing a capable receiver like Thomas in the mix only makes them more dangerous. Remember how good DT was with Peyton Manning throwing him the ball?Yes, he is older. And yes, he is only going to get older. However, he has the opportunity to make big plays with a new team. His career will likely be injected with meaning, and more catches in the final weeks of the season. Meanwhile, Denver will probably continue the backward slide that will land them a high draft pick, and nothing more.In the end Authentic Domata Peko Jersey , the most frustrating part of the Thomas trade was it was the lone move that John Elway made. With all the rumors swirling around the Broncos, it seemed inevitable that Denver would be selling at the trade deadline. The Thomas trade seemed to be the indicator of the Broncos intentions to make big changes. And then nothing happened. We sat and waited like Linus in the pumpkin patch, but the great pumpkin never came. Instead, we are still stuck with Vance Joseph as the head coach, no true direction for the franchise, and a lack of identity that is killing the season. Thomas was the lucky one. He got out. His exit begins with a return. He moves on, but not before one last chance to play in front of the fans that loved him so much. Will there be those who say good riddance to bad rubbish? Of course, but most of Broncos Country appreciates everything that DT has done. It’s just too bad that his move was the beginning and the end, placing the Broncos squarely in NFL purgatory. Thanks for the memories DT. Good luck, and congrats on getting out.The MHR Radio Podcast is now on iTunes, Google Play Youth Von Miller Jersey , Spotify, Acast, Stitcher, TuneIn and a few other podcast hosts. Please subscribe to the one that fits your fancy, and also rate and review what you hear.Broncos vs. Vikings preseason snap counts With the Denver Broncos first team offense playing a grand total of seven snaps and Von Miller not playing at all, many of the guys who are second though fourth string saw plenty of action on Saturday. Here is the offensive snap data: Elijah Wilkinson got a lot of work at offensive tackle. I’m not sure what that means other than the coaching staff obviously wanted to see him play this past game. On the other end of the spectrum Andy Janovich only got two offensive snaps, so if they were using a fullback with the second team offense, it was not him. Now on to the defensive data:Will Parks played a great deal for a guy who was a de facto starter for part of the year in 2017 (when we went to heavy nickel). Josey Jewell also so a lot of action along with fellow (highly-targetted) rookie Isaac Yiadom. I’m a little surprised at how few snaps Shane Ray got, but I guess he was the starting OLB on one side with Von Miller sitting for the whole game. What if anything surprised you about this snap data? Sound off in the comments.

Report: Seahawks release DT Tom Johnson Two days after making an unexpected addition in Mychal Kendricks Womens Quinton Jefferson Jersey , the Seattle Seahawks have made another curious move, releasing veteran defensive tackle Tom Johnson. The move was first reported by NFL Network’s Tom Pelissero, who added the Seahawks are likely to re-sign Johnson next week.Hit with injuries while carrying five DTs (excluding Quinton Jefferson) on the roster, Seattle is forced to allocate spots elsewhere. Despite starting Week 1 , Johnson was ultimately the one sacrificed to make room. Johnson was signed this past offseason on a one-year deal worth $2.1 million. As a veteran, Johnson’s salary is guaranteed for the season despite his release, as he was on the Seahawks’ roster for Week 1. As Pelissero noted, while Seattle is likely to re-sign Johnson next week Womens Tre Flowers Jersey , he’s now free to move on if he chooses.Who is in the lead for starting jobs on the Seahawks? The Seattle Seahawks are less than a month from the 2018 regular season opener in Denver against the Broncos. The depth chart is starting to become a little more clear, though a lot can still change between now and then. The following is an August 14 best-guess as to the first 11 on offense, first 11 on defense, and key special teamers could be when that Week 1 game comes. This is just a guess. Although Womens Frank Clark Jersey , it is my best guess.OffenseQB - Russell WilsonRB - Chris CarsonWR - Doug BaldwinWR - Tyler LockettWR - Brandon MarshallLT - Duane BrownLG - Ethan PocicC - Justin BrittRG - D.J. FlukerRT - Germain IfediTE - Nick VannettSummary:I don’t think Ed Dickson will be ready for Week 1, so Vannett gets the start. No reason at this point to make a change at right guard or right tackle because the backups haven’t done enough to warrant a change yet.I do think that Jaron Brown could be a starter. I just had to make a choice. If both are healthy, Carson and Rashaad Penny may end up with a nominal difference in snaps and touches.DefenseDE - Frank ClarkDT - Jarran ReedDT - Tom JohnsonDE - Quinton JeffersonILB - Bobby WagnerOLB - KJ WrightCB - Shaquill GriffinCB - Justin ColemanCB - Byron MaxwellFS - Tedric ThompsonSS - Bradley McDougaldSummary:I think in today’s NFL it’s more important to mention a slot corner as a starter than it is an outside linebacker. Barkevious Mingo could get a lot of snaps and could play both DE and LB and wherever they need him at the time. Maybe he does get starter snaps, but Pete Carroll recently mentioned Jefferson as a guy who would be in the regular d-line rotation if the season started now and isn’t that a bit more exciting to mention than Mingo? It would be a cool story at least for a guy who couldn’t get on the field in his first two seasons. Jefferson may be the years-later Red Bryant replacement.Thompson seems to be the starting safety if Earl Thomas doesn’t return Youth Ethan Pocic Jersey , beating out Delano Hill and Maurice Alexander.I wonder how far up the depth chart Akeem King could get.Nazair Jones is the name more people want to see, but he’s dealing with injuries again already and Johnson is a steady veteran presence who is good enough to start. It’s a rotation, anyway, and “starter” is just a title. It’s not always even the best player Youth Russell Wilson Jersey , it’s a situational thing.Special TeamsK - Sebastian JanikowskiP - Michael DicksonLS - Tyler OttKR - Rashaad PennyPR - Tyler LockettSummary:Not sure on the return jobs, but this seems fair.

K.J. Wright injury: Should Pete Carroll be “ashamed” of waiting to report news? Seattle Seahawks linebacker K.J. Wright is having his knee scoped this week Youth Russell Wilson Jersey , as was reported earlier on Monday. The surgery has the Pro Bowl outside linebacker out indefinitely — meaning he could miss a week and be ready for the Denver Broncos in the season opener, or he could be out much longer if the news turns out to be quite bad. We should know more soon, but head coach Pete Carroll was certainly aware of some goings on after the Minnesota Vikings game on Friday, so should he have notified the public earlier? Our own John Fraley certainly thinks so.I’m not sure if I agree with John Womens Tom Johnson Jersey , if only because I’m not sure what Carroll or the team knew after the game and if they thought it was going to turn out to be a bigger problem that required a scope. I also don’t know if strategically it’s smarter for teams to keep these things quiet until absolutely necessary. I’m also not even sure if it’s doing a favor to Wright — a free agent in 2019 — to try and keep any injury a secret until it turns to the point where they can no longer try and hide that he’s missing practices and possibly a game; I’m sure Wright doesn’t want teams to think he’s got knee issues now. The Seahawks know first hand that there can heavy penalties for keeping injuries a secret, and eventually it had to be said. But should it have been said earlier? I leave it up to you to discuss and vote.Justin Britt injury: Pete Carroll says Seahawks center is “day-to-day” with sore shoulder When Russell Wilson was strip-sacked by Danny Trevathan in the Seattle Seahawks’ Monday night loss to the Chicago Bears, it killed off feint hopes that Seattle could erase their 24-10 4th quarter deficit, and it also got Justin Britt hurt.Head coach Pete Carroll confirmed at Wednesday’s press conference that Britt has a sore shoulder Youth 12th Fan Jersey , and he’s “day-to-day,” which doesn’t sound too serious on the surface, but that doesn’t necessarily mean he’s a certainty to play in Seattle’s home opener against the Dallas Cowboys.Replays show that Britt dove for the loose ball, but Leonard Floyd was able to fall on it first. Floyd’s helmet slammed into Britt’s right shoulder Womens Justin Britt Jersey , and backup Joey Hunt replaced Britt for Seattle’s final drive. Now interestingly enough, both KJR’s Dave Mahler and current 710 ESPN Radio contributor Jake Heaps have heard through the grapevine that this injury is more serious than what Carroll has described. If by any chance Britt doesn’t play this week, it could be Hunt’s first start since 2016, when he was a rookie filling in for an injured Britt against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. Russell Wilson was sacked six times and the Seahawks were held to 5 points. Another option is Ethan Pocic shifting from LG to C Womens Frank Clark Jersey , while D.J. Fluker and JR Sweezy take the two guard positions, as Fluker is in good position to return this weekend. As for other injury updates, it looks like Bobby Wagner, Tre Flowers Womens Nick Vannett Jersey , and the aforementioned Fluker are on course to play against Dallas. Doug Baldwin and K.J. Wright still haven’t practiced.

What was the most important play of the Jets’ win over the Broncos? What was the most important play of yesterday’s Week 5 victory for the Jets over Denver? The Jets’ victory was so convincing that it didn’t feel to me like any one particular play was the turning point. Since I am forced to pick one Womens Kelvin Beachum Jersey , I am going to go with Sam Darnold’s first touchdown pass to Robby Anderson in the second quarter.Within the context of the game it gave the Jets the lead for the first time, which they would never relinquish.Within the context of the season it might have been even more important. There has been a lot of negativity around the team in recent weeks. One of the biggest frustrations we have heard has been the offense’s inability to make big plays in the passing game. Is Jeremy Bates dialing up enough deep shots? Is Sam Darnold too gunshy? Is Robby Anderson regressing? We can’t come to any long-term conclusions based on the result of one play , but this touchdown pass and the one that followed it later in the quarter will at least put some minds at ease for one week. That’s what I think. What do you think was the game’s most important play.Sam vs The Record Books Two games into his fledgling NFL career, Sam Darnold is off to a nice start on the stat sheets. We’re going to take a weekly look at where he stands in comparison to the all time rookie leaders (post merger) in several metrics. A few things to keep in mind. All rankings are limited to quarterbacks with at least 250 passing attempts in their rookie seasons. There have been 72 rookie quarterbacks with 250 or more passing attempts in the post merger era. Rate stats (like completion %) reflect actual current numbers for Darnold. Counting stats (like touchdowns or yards) reflect prorated numbers for Darnold assuming (and this is a huge assumption early in the season) he continues to perform at the same level all season. Let’s get to it. Below are a bunch of quarterback metrics New York Jets T-Shirt , listing the all time rookie leaders for each and showing where Sam Darnold fits assuming he plays at the same level all season.YardsAndrew Luck4374Sam Darnold4256Cam Newton4051Jameis Winston4042Carson Wentz3782TouchdownsPeyton Manning26Russell Wilson26 (Tie 1)Sam Darnold24Andrew Luck23Dak Prescott23 (Tie 4)InterceptionsPeyton Manning28Jim Zorn27Terry Bradshaw24Sam Darnold24 (Tie 3)Jeff Komlo23Passer RatingDak Prescott104.9Robert Griffin III102.4Russell Wilson100Ben Roethlisberger98.1Dan Marino96...7. Dolphins-Jets: 5 Questions with The Phinsider With the Jets and Dolphins getting set to square off in the Meadowlands this Sunday , I was able to ask Kevin Nogle of The Phinsider a few questions on the Fins.1. What is the overall vibe coming out of the Tennessee win? Was it the type of inspiring opening day win that has the fanbase feeling the exceeding levels of optimism, or has the reception been more even-keeled?2. Ryan Tannehill started out his career a bit rocky as most young quarterbacks do, as he was turnover prone and below average overall, but over the three years prior to his missed season last year he was trending upwards and settling into a spot around the top half of the league’s quarterbacks. How did he look against Tennessee , and how much further up the ladder can he climb?3. Defensively, the Dolphins particularly struggled against the pass last season, as they allowed the 5th highest opponent passer rating in the league, had the 5th lowest interception total Authentic Nathan Shepherd Jersey , and the 7th fewest sacks. They had no problem turning that around this past Sunday. How did the Dolphins build their secondary this offseason and how did they start to turn things around against Tennessee? In particular, how did Minkah Fitzpatrick perform in his debut?4. Which areas of the Jets offense in particular could pose a matchup issue for the Dolphins defense? Conversely, which areas of the Jets defense could cause problems for the Dolphins offense?5. How should the Jets defense approach attacking Ryan Tannehill and the offense, and how should the offense look to exploit the Miami defense?Jets 2018 Roster Countdown: Number 56 Kevin Pierre-Louis Kevin Pierre-Louis now steps into our Jets roster countdown.Name: Kevin Pierre-LouisNumber: 56Year with Jets: 1stProjected Role: Backup inside linebackerHis 2017: Pierre-Louis was traded from Seattle to Kansas City during the offseason. He posted a career high 41 tackles while getting regular playing time as a reserve with the Chiefs linebacking corps. He was also a fixture on Kansas City’s special teams units.2018 will be a success if: Pierre-Louis gives the Jets quality play if Darron Lee or Avery Williamson ever needs out of the lineup. It also is possible we will see him as a situational player on passing downs if the Jets want to pull Williamson off the field.Odds of making the roster: Pierre-Louis will miss the first game of the year with a suspension Youth Sam Darnold Jersey , but the Jets are investing pretty good money for a backup player. They seem to like Pierre-Louis so he is a Lock (>99%).

It was a wake-up call for the Jacksonville Jaguars in Week 5 Youth Dede Westbrook Jersey , as the undefeated Kansas City Chiefs soundly beat the Jaguars. A depleted Jacksonville team is trying to weather the storm of injuries, and will look to bounce back this week against the Dallas Cowboys. Series historyAll-time regular season series record: Tied 3-3Postseason record: N/ALast Jaguars win: Oct. 31, 2010 (35-17)Last Cowboys win: Nov. 9, 2014 (31-17)Current Streak: Cowboys with one winBiggest Jaguars win: 35-17 (Oct. 31, 2010)Biggest Cowboys win: 31-17 (Nov. 9, 2014)Interesting takeaway: Sunday’s matchup between the Jaguars and Cowboys will be the fifth time in seven all time games that the two teams meet in Texas. The Jaguars are 2-2 as the road team in this series. Only one game has actually been played in Jacksonville, as the last meeting was played in London. Quick thoughts: These two inter-conference franchises aren’t very familiar with each other, having only played each other six times total from 1997 through 2014. The teams usually trade wins (so it must be Jacksonville’s turn, right?), as the only two-game winning streak in series history was when Jacksonville won back-to-back meetings in 2006 and 2010. It’s a small sample size, but the teams are pretty evenly matched, with each squad winning three games and a close scoring average per game. Jacksonville has the slight advantage there with 23.3 points per contest versus 21.5 for Dallas. Last Matchup Winner: CowboysScore: 31-17Date: Nov. 9, 2014Location: Wembley Stadium, London Youth Blake Bortles Jersey , U.K.Team Stats: Jacksonville — 290 passing yards, 71 rushing yards, 20 first downsDallas — 254 passing yards, 151 rushing yards, 16 first downsQuick recap: Back when the Jaguars were trotting out such players as Denard Robinson and Ace Sanders — both players lost fumbles in this game — the Jaguars fell to 1-9 after this game. In Robinson’s defense, he did score both touchdowns for the Jaguars on this day, including a 32-yard score. Blake Bortles also threw an interception and, unsurprisingly, the Jags lost the turnover battle 3-1. This game was actually all Cowboys and the final score was closer than it looked. Dallas built a 31-7 lead behind strong games from Tony Romo and Dez Bryant. The Jags generally play well in London, but never threatened in this one. Previous Matchup: Winner: JaguarsScore: 35-17Date: Oct. 31, 2010Location: Cowboys Stadium, Arlington, TexasTeam Stats: Jacksonville — 260 passing yards, 149 rushing yards Womens Donte Moncrief Jersey , 20 first downsDallas— 379 passing yards, 50 rushing yards, 25 first downsQuick recap: Jon Kitna got the start for an injured Tony Romo and actually threw for 379 yards, but also threw four interceptions, which helped the Jags get the easy win. Derek Cox had two of the picks, while Rashean Mathis and Terrance Knighton had one each. The Jaguars built a 28-3 lead in the third quarter and controlled the majority of the game. David Garrard had a near perfect passer rating of 157.8 with 260 yards, four touchdowns and zero picks. Maurice Jones-Drew added 135 yards on the ground and Mike Sims-Walker had a monster day with eight catches for 158 yards and a touchdown. Series By Decade: 1990s: Dallas 1-02000-2010: Jacksonville 3-12011-Present: Dallas 1-0Quick thoughts: The Cowboys won the lone meeting of the ‘90s, while the Jags won three out of the next four in the first decade of the 2000s. Dallas then took advantage of a Gus Bradley-coached Jaguars team in 2014 to knot the series up at three wins a piece. Jacksonville won its lone game played in Duval in 2006 and has split in Dallas/Arlington (and lost the one in London). Sunday’s matchup will serve as an all-time series tie breaker for this series. Looking at 2018’s upcoming meeting, the Jaguars first-ranked pass defense should provide plenty of challenges for the Cowboys’ 30th-ranked passing attack. Ezekiel Elliott provides a huge threat on the ground game and is the focal point for Dallas on offense. If the Jaguars can contain him and force Dallas to pass the ball, the Jags will be in good shape. However, it’s hard to predict which version of the Jacksonville offense will show up. Bortles must make better decisions, the offensive line must protect much better and the Jaguars are going to have to get something out of this makeshift backfield, though I am confident in T.J. Yeldon. Bortles and the offense is always the wild card. On paper the Jaguars should win this game. However, Dallas has a pretty stout defense and good running game on offense. What happens? After the Jacksonville Jaguars 30-14 loss to the Kansas City Chiefs Youth Telvin Smith Jersey , a lot of Jaguars fans have been asking if something is wrong with the defense. They’ve been expressing their disappointment at how the defense has played, hitting out at Jalen Ramsey for not playing well and wondering if there is something wrong.Simply put, no. There’s not anything wrong. They’re playing great. The even played well in the loss on Sunday. The comparison naturally goes to the 2017 variation of the Jaguars defense and people lament that it’s not as good. The reality is, it’s just as good and might be better overall, but the difference is the flash stats aren’t there. For instance, he’s a comparison of the yards per game through the first five games between the two seasons. As you can see, the Jaguars 2018 defense has been consistently good through the first five weeks and a lot less spiky than the 2017 version. Even in the points per game category the 2018 version is giving up just 0.6 more points per game through the first five games and probably half of their touchdowns allowed this season were true garbage time points. The real difference and why most fans see a big difference is the “flash” stats aren’t where they were last season. The Jaguars defense is actually averaging 2.2 sacks per game and a turnover per game, not even mentioning the consistent pressure on the quarterback, but they don’t have a 10 sack game and a 5 turnover game to spike the numbers like they did last season. That should have been expected, though. We wondered last season if the sack numbers, turnovers and points off turnovers would be something that could sustain through the season. It did to a degree, but it was expected that there would be regression in 2018 from those numbers because they were just so insanely good. We’re seeing that statistical regression so far in 2018, but the issue is the defense is still playing great. They’re much better against the run through the first five weeks and just as good against the pass, allowing roughly the same amount of points per game. This is without all the flashy sacks and turnovers buoying their numbers.A lot of the reason those numbers aren’t coming is because after last season teams are changing how they attack the Jaguars defense. It’s why you see so much off coverage from Jalen Ramsey and AJ Bouye and less press Womens A. J. Cann Jersey , unless it’s a very obvious long passing down. Teams are using a lot more quick three-step drops and short passes to pick up some yards, so the adjustment that defensive coordinator Todd Wash seemed to have made is keeping things in front of them and limiting the yards.Take for instance the match up with Jalen Ramsey and Tyreek Hill on Sunday. Ramsey pressed Hill often and for the most part shut him down. He allowed the one 30-yard reception where Hill beat the press at the line, but otherwise his only other reception on Ramsey was a quick short throw where Ramsey was playing off coverage. When the Jaguars play off like that, it’s because they know that if you play press all the time on these quick three step drops it’s tough to get there with your front four, regardless if the pressure is there (which it is), because if you miss on the jam in those situations it’s an explosive play. When you play off like Ramsey and Bouye have on those quick throws, you’re giving up some yards but you’re limiting the explosive plays. There’s nothing wrong with the Jaguars defense in 2018, even after the loss to the Chiefs on Sunday. They’re still the best defense in the league, they just haven’t had that absurd stat padding game yet like they did in 2017. The flash isn’t there yet, but the substance is and it’s better than it was last year.

Let’s answer some questions ahead of today’s Jacksonville Jaguars’ matchup against the Houston Texans!Steve from Jacksonville Jacksonville Jaguars Hoodie , FLQ: Will Leonard Fournette ever play again?A: Again? Yes. This season? Probably. It sucks that I can’t definitively say yes, but Doug Marrone looks genuinely frustrated and at a loss for an answer when he’s asked about it week after week. I would suspect that if the Jaguars are fighting for a playoff spot after the bye week, then he could be back. If they drop the next two? I don’t know. I’ll predict that he plays again around Week 12 with limited snaps against the Buffalo Bills. I’ll also predict that we’re 5-5 at that point and really needing a win to stay in this thing.Tyler from Fort Lawn, SCQ: When could we see Cody Kessler play?A: If Blake Bortles has another two bad outings between now and the bye week, I’d make the change but I doubt the team does anything sans injury.Kevin from Toronto, Ontario, CanadaQ: We have sucked the past two games on both sides of the ball. So who do we cut first — Jalen Ramsey Customized Jacksonville Jaguars Jerseys , A.J. Bouye, Yannick Ngakoue or Leonard Fournette?A: First, we didn’t suck on defense against the Kansas City Chiefs. The defense gave up just 23 points and was on the field for nearly 33 minutes. That’s against what was the No. 1 offense in their home stadium. Last week? Sure. Everyone sucked. But against, the Chiefs, that was a failure of Blake Bortles and the offense. And gun to my head with those four players, I’d give up Fournette. But none of the four players you listed is a concern of mine going forward.Anthony from Jacksonville, FLQ: How long do you see No. 5 being a part of this team roster?A: If he doesn’t drastically improve Youth Jalen Ramsey Jersey , I think he’ll be gone after the 2019 season.Pompey from Savannah, GAQ: With the struggles on offense, will the Jaguars front offer consider Dez Bryant or trying to persuade Marcedes Lewis to come back after his release? A: No and no.Manuel from St. Augustine, FLQ: What’s your overall assessment of Taven Bryan? I have recored and watched carefully all Jaguars games, but don’t see him having any impact? Is he a bust?A: If you expected Taven to be making any significant impact in the first half of this season, you either had too high of expectations or you expected injuries. He was drafted to be a guy on a limited snap count through the first 8-12 games and then really ramp up as guys like Calais Campbell and Malik Jackson needed to rest up for what we thought would be a coasting into the playoffs. So far, Taven has averaged a little more than 16 snaps a game which is about where I put him at. You’ll see more of him (and more impact) as the year goes on but from the little we’ve seen I think he’ll be a net positive on this defensive line.Al from Orlando , FLQ: The Jaguars are somehow bad again. Can you guys please kill me?A: Me first.Monty from Maurice, LAQ: Why are we not running the ball any more?A: I have no idea. None. I wish I knew. T.J. Yeldon was gashing the Chiefs for 5.3 yards per carry and then saw two rushes after the middle of the second quarter. Not only that, but offensive coordinator went to the pass on third and fourth down at the goal line when it was a 10-0 game. Yeldon has averaged nine carries a game in the last two weeks and while both games ended in blowouts, these weren’t immediate blowouts. There was still time to get some momentum, let Yeldon catch a rhythm, and count on your defense to make a stop or two. Instead, we’ve let Bortles drop back or scramble 103 times over the past two weeks. That’s inexcusable.Malcolm from Jacksonville Youth Leonard Fournette Jersey , FLQ: The defense will fix itself. Will we make any moves for a quarterback to help the offense?A: Not this year, Malcolm. Not this year.Week 1 NFL odds: Best plays and bet your mortgage on the Ravens The 2018 NFL regular season is upon us and that means watching games you wouldn’t otherwise have even thought to tune in because you’ve got $200 riding on the 4-point underdog. They’re down by eight. They’re at the 23-yard line. They’re going for it on fourth-and-goal. A holding call has them backed up. And what a DUMBASS call it was. Why are they going for it on fourth down? Kick the field goal. KICK THE FIELD GOAL. GOD NO GOD NOOOOOOOOO WHAT AM I GOING TO TELL MY WIFE?Anyway, I thought it might be fun to pick a few of the betting lines from week to week and see how much I’d win or lose over the course of a season if I took my own advice. Here we go!Note: I use Bovada’s odds just a few hours before the game for all the spreads.Philadelphia Eagles (-1.0) vs Atlanta FalconsYes, Nick Foles is a backup quarterback, but he’s a very capable backup quarterback who could steer any good roster to the playoffs — or an elite defense to the Super Bowl. Do I think they come out of the gate and win against the Falcons? Nope, not even at home.Bet on the Falcons and take the point.Baltimore Ravens (-7.5) vs Buffalo BillsThis line started at 3.0 points for the Ravens and has skyrocketed to 7.5 because everyone remembered that Nathan Peterman is the starting quarterback for the Bills. He’s going to very bad and the Ravens have a good enough defense to make themselves look otherworldly. It’s too early to bench Peterman early in the game so I think the Ravens win by at least two scores at home.Bet on the Ravens and give up 7.5 points to the Bills.Cincinnati Bengals (+3.0) vs. Indianapolis ColtsAndrew Luck is rusty and while he’ll be throwing regulation footballs for the first time since 2016 the rest of the roster is not enough to help him shake off that rust throughout the course of this game.Bet on the Bengals and give three points to the Colts.New York Giants (+3.0) vs. Jacksonville JaguarsThe Jaguars defensive line isn’t going to allow Eli Manning off the field without sacking him five or six times. I really think this game gets out of hand early and Saquon Barkley isn’t going to be enough to save them.Bet on the Jaguars and give up three points.

ending injury Monday.Yet a team with Super Bowl aspirations is hoping that safety Ricardo Allen's torn Achilles tendon won't derail their season."We will not play the role of the victim with injuries Youth Solomon Thomas Jersey , and we've got a locker room full of tough competitive guys, and I expect us to play well," coach Dan Quinn said Monday, a day after Allen injured his leg against the Saints. That's a hard sell before Sunday's game against the Bengals, given how important Allen is to the Falcons' injury-ravaged defense. Allen is the third Falcons defensive starter to go on injured reserve so far this season. The Falcons said they're not feeling sorry for themselves even though starting strong safety Keanu Neal was lost for the season with a knee injury in the first game at Philadelphia. Middle linebacker Deion Jones suffered a foot injury that will keep him out at least eight games. Atlanta also has lost starting left guard Andy Levitre to a season-ending arm injury."This is the life we live," defensive tackle Grady Jarrett said. "You can't sit there and worry over it."Allen, a fourth-year veteran from Purdue, is respected for his ability to coordinate the defense on the field. He was carted off the field late in Sunday's 43-37 overtime loss to the Saints, and the Falcons (1-2) have little depth at the position heading into Sunday's game against the Bengals (2-1).Second-year pro Damontae Kazee White Alfred Morris Jersey , a cornerback in college at San Diego State, moved into the lineup after Neal was lost. That bumped the 5-foot-9, 186-pound Allen — a cornerback in college — to strong safety, where he was expected to play a lot of run defense.Jordan Richards, a former second-round pick by the Patriots acquired by a trade days before the season, jumped into the strong safety position upon Allen's injury."It's big. Just got to pray for him," Falcons cornerback Desmond Trufant said. "Big part of the D. Everybody knows what he brings, but other people got to step up."The Falcons have just one other safety on the roster, having signed Keith Tandy a couple of weeks ago. He was inactive for Sunday's game against the Saints.Quinn said that reserve linebacker Kemal Ishmael http://www.authenticssanfrancisco49ers.c...kyle-juszczyk-jersey , a former safety whose primary role has been to play special teams, will be a consideration, and third-year nickel back Brian Poole, will practice at the safety spot.Allen is respected for his overall grasp of the defensive concepts of Quinn and coordinator Marquand Manuel and for his ability to communicate to teammates."That was one of Rico's strengths, just how smart he is, his understanding of what's going on before plays happen on their side and our side," Trufant said.Quinn said the Falcons will look to add another safety to the roster, but rebuffed the suggestion that the team might seek to acquire Seahawks safety Earl Thomas or sign free agent Eric Reid, another former Pro Bowler. The San Francisco 49ers and New York Giants square off in a little more than a week’s time on Monday Night Football. Both teams will coming into the game with plenty of rest. The Giants have a bye this week http://www.authenticssanfrancisco49ers.c...earl-mitchell-jersey , while the 49ers wrapped up their Week 9 on Thursday with a 34-3 win over the Oakland Raiders.Prior to Thursday’s game, the Westgate SuperBook released a lookahead line for the Week 10 49ers-Giants matchup. The lookahead line provides a glimpse at where sportsbooks are looking before they release official lines Sunday night. For 49ers-Giants, the Westgate installed the 49ers as two-point favorites. The official line might actually be delayed at some sportsbooks because of the 49ers quarterback situation. Nick Mullens had a dominant performance against the Raiders, and head coach Kyle Shanahan has not announced his decision on who will start in Week 10. Shanahan said on Friday that he would wait to announce the starter after the team returned from four days off, so we likely won’t know the answer until Tuesday. Ian Rapoport reported Sunday morning that it would be “major surprise” if it was not Mullens. When the line does open, if Mullens is starting, it will be interesting to see how far the line swings, and how gamblers perceive the 49ers versus an awful Giants squad.

  • liny ha creado el nuevo tema » There isn’t much to say about Nick Mullens’ stunni en los foros.
and glorious debut Thursday night against the Raiders in the final Battle of the Bay (worth clicking if only for the photo) that you don’t already know. You’ve watched the impressive highlights. You’ve seen the eye-popping stats. You’ve read the glowing accounts and analysis. You’ve heard his teammates rave about his work ethic. You’ve listened to the postgame Brett Favre call. You know he was verified on twitter mid-game (even if he already had a fan account). You don’t need me to tell you Mullens owned the Raiders -- but just in case Customized San Francisco 49ers Jerseys , I have reputable sources. No word on whether Mullens plans to go ahead with the planned move to Las Vegas now that he has taken control of the franchise. He did, however, give the embattled Jon Gruden a vote confidence. You don’t need me to tell you how endearing Mullens’ emotional post-game interview was.I will say that I don’t blame him for showing the emotion that he did there. I would also get choked up if I were in that position -- talking to Erin Andrews, I mean. But one thing which I think has gone overlooked is the effect he had on the entire team’s performance. Many people will say Thursday night’s beatdown had more to do with playing against the lowly Raiders than anything else. And I can’t argue that with “logic” or “reason” or any kind of conventional weapons. But dammit if I didn’t feel something different with Nick Mullens on the field. And it seemed like his 49er teammates felt it too.Suddenly, the mistakes -- dropped passes, silly penalties, and unforced errors -- dissipated. I don’t think C.J. Beathard caused false starts, bad snaps, and fumbles, so what happened to them?Suddenly, the much maligned defense had their best effort of the season by far, holding the Raiders scoreless after an opening drive field goal. Suddenly, they could not just rush the passer, but sack them -- over and over again. The Raiders line may not be very good, but they’re not atrocious, and they managed to keep the Colts from sacking Derek Carr four days earlier. So why did Cassius Marsh suddenly look like Khalil Mack with taekwondo training and better dance moves?Suddenly, the offense was explosive, jumping out to a big lead early on for the first time this year , behind big plays from their C Team -- Mullens, Raheem Mostert (pours out 40oz), and Richie James Jr.Suddenly, these were the bizarro Niners.Yes, I know the Raiders are a train-wreck led by a cartoon character who won’t stop making crazy statements. And sure, their defense is surrendering more yards per play than any unit in NFL history. But enough with the damn “facts,” this is about a feeling!Besides, the 49ers are no stranger to getting beat by bad teams. The 2-6 Cardinals wouldn’t have a win at all if it weren’t for the Niners. Throughout the winnable games against Arizona -- and even in the close losses to the Chargers and Packers, when Beathard played well -- there seemed to be something missing. And it goes beyond talent. The air was let out of the balloon when Jimmy Garoppolo got hurt, and while the effort has continued to be present -- a tribute to Kyle Shanahan -- the lack of energy on the team has been hard to miss. There appeared to be more spring in the 49ers collective step on Thursday night. Mullens’ play, attitude and very presence seemed to raise everyone’s game. I can’t say exactly why. Maybe his teammates wanted to rally around a guy they knew had worked his tail off to get this chance. Or maybe he did the little things we can’t see on the sideline, in the huddle, and between the lines to help them raise their game. You could see it in the little things -- like Matt Breida’s relentless second effort to convert a 3rd and 1 on the 49ers second drive to get a 1st and goal they would convert into their second touchdown.Hell, I even saw it in the comments section of this very site. We all had high hopes for 2018, and it’s been hard to maintain positive vibes once reality slapped us around. But as soon as the news broke that Mullens would start, something changed. A palpable sense of excitement grew. Maybe it was just the anticipation of the unknown. Maybe it was optimism borne out of Mullens’ impressive showing in the preseason. Or maybe, just maybe, there really is a little magic in Mullens. Sure he doesn’t have the strongest arm San Francisco 49ers T-Shirt , and he doesn’t have the physical stature you look for out of an NFL quarterback. But perhaps what they say is true: it’s not the meat, it’s the motion. In any case, you can’t argue with the results. Or the stats. Mullens put up such great numbers, it’s time to ask whether he is best QB to ever come out of Southern Mississippi. Here’s the tale of the tape:CAREER STATISTICSNick Mullens — Winning%: 1.000, Completion%: 72.7, TD%: 13.6, INT%: 0.0, Rating: 151.9Brett Favre — Winning%: .624, Completion%: 62.0, TD%: 5.0, INT%: 3.3, Rating: 86.0Looks like it’s time for Southern Miss to retire another jersey. And before any of you nerds in your mom’s basement tell me I’m working with too small a sample size to analyze, think again: Mullens and Favre have combined to play in 303 NFL games. That’s a huge sample.Speaking of premature quarterback comparisons...Stat of the weekCAREER RECORDNick Mullens: 1-0C.J. Beathard: 1-9This is not meant to slam Beathard, or belittle him in any way. He’s been put in a tough spot and hasn’t had much to work with. I’m not even saying Mullens is better than Beathard, or that he should be the backup to Jimmy G next year -- though it did appear Mullens is better able to get rid of the ball quickly and avoid taking the excessive punishment Beathard is prone to taking. What I am saying is it would be a crime if Mullens didn’t get a chance to repeat his prime time magic this Monday night against the Giants -- if only because in a lost season such as this, it benefits the Niners more to evaluate what they have in as many players as possible. I have to imagine Shanahan sees this, and expect he will make the decision official before long -- possibly even before you read this. Speaking of the Giants...Who’s got it better worse than us?That’s right — against all odds, this gag is still alive! There’s at least one team left that’s objectively worse off than the 49ers. And again San Francisco 49ers Hats , it’s their next opponent. Isn’t that convenient? The Giants not only have one less win than the 49ers, they’ve lost 21 of their last 25 games. And like the Raiders, they are awash in dysfunction. Sure, they have one of the most exciting -- and distracting -- receivers in the game in Odell Beckham Jr. And yes, this year they drafted one of the most dynamic young running backs to enter the league in years in Saquon Barkley. Not to mention, last year they added a very promising young tight end in Evan Engram -- though he has regressed thus far this season. So, who’s in charge of getting all those playmakers the ball? This guy:Despite all the talk of regression and old age eating into Manning’s talent, Eli is basically who he’s always been. He’s pretty much the same guy who won Super Bowls, and who people like me thought would never win Super Bowls -- talented, but shockingly inconsistent, capable of great plays, and prone to jaw-dropping mistakes.Don’t believe me? Look at the stats. Eli’s QB rating this year: 90.9. For his career: 83.8. His last two full seasons: 86.0 and 80.4, which averages out to 83 and change -- right at his career average. His TD percentage is down, but so is his INT percentage. Still don’t believe me that Eli is who’s he’s always been? Check this out:Still, it’s time to move on. Manning’s performance is slipping -- even if not by the degree most seem to think -- and it’s time to look to the future. Which is why many are saying drafting Barkley instead of a potential franchise QB was a mistake. So who did the Giants bring in to manage this largely unmanageable situation, and steer this sinking ship to shore? The... uh, experienced Pat Shurmur. It has not gone well. First, Shurmur’s choices regarding how to use his old and immobile QB came under fire. Then San Francisco 49ers Hoodie , after starting 1-5, questions began to be raised about whether Eli was still the man to lead this team in the present. On October 23, heading into their Week 8 game vs. Washington before the Giants bye week, Shurmur stood by his struggling 37-year old quarterback. Six days later, after a loss to Washington in which they scored all of 13 points, Shurmur wouldn’t commit to starting Manning at QB against 49ers, saying, “Well see.” This raised the possibility he might elevate rookie Kyle Lauletta out of Richmond, who hadn’t dressed for a game all season. Shurmur said as recently as a week before the game that Lauletta had been getting practice reps during the Giants bye week. The very next morning, Lauletta was arrested for nearly running over a police officer -- but not just that:That is a lot of stuff to do wrong at one time. But hey, everybody has a bad day once in a while. I’m sure it was an isolated incident. Or not. Maybe from now on, we should spell his name LOL-etta.Still, some Giants fans feel this development is a little too convenient (NSFW) and are wondering if the police might have have a vendetta for Lauletta (hey, that rhymes!). But what would the police possibly have to gain by arresting him?Hmmm. He does have a motive. And before you call this theory ridiculous, you should know that multiple reports have confirmed it.Giants players reported Lauletta missed practice later that day, despite Shurmur claiming all players were present. So it seems like maybe we shouldn’t pay that much attention to what Shurmur says. But he’s still the man in charge, and he’s reportedly fuming over the incident, which seems to end any chance Lauletta gets his first NFL start against the Niners. That’s a shame Customized San Francisco 49ers Jerseys , because I love the idea of Nick Mullens being the seasoned veteran in this matchup. In any case, the entire situation is ridiculous, embarrassing and melodramatic -- or, in other words, very New York Giants!Matt Breida nominated for Fedex Ground Player of the Week OK. first, let me put this here, because this never gets old: Now, because of that play, Matt Breida is nominated for the Fedex Ground Player of the Week. Breida currently leads the league in rushing yards with 184 yards. A good portion of that came from the (awesome) 66-yard play above that we are going to drop in any post where it is relevant, which rounds out to 80 percent of the posts here at Niners Nation (fun fact: watch Mike McGlinchey’s dance once Breida strolls into the endzone). The rest has been because of his shifty and quick movements. He’s nominated which means you can still go vote for him. Given his competition, Breida has a chance at winning. You’ve got Tevin Coleman, but his run resulted in a fumble and no touchdown. Phillip Lindsay’s run was pretty cool, but again, no touchdown. Only one player in these nominees toted the rock 66 yards for the score. That’s Matt “The Cheetah” Breida.Go vote for him here.

.When the New York Giants' flashy wide receiver was asked Friday what he hoped his 1-7 team would do for the remainder of the season , Beckham didn't pull any punches."I think the goal is to win eight games, go 9-7 and go to the playoffs," Beckham said.Even though no NFL team has ever pulled off such a comeback?"It's not an easy task," Beckham added. "But that's the goal. We want to win every game and I want to do everything I can to help that. The Giants have been there before, gone 9-7 and got into the playoffs. Anything is possible. It's not impossible to win eight games. It wasn't impossible to lose seven. Anything can happen."Beckham remained upbeat as his team prepared to face the San Francisco 49ers in Santa Clara, California on Monday night. He was certain his team is ready to turn it around, albeit in miraculous fashion 鈥?provided the Giants do a better job of scoring touchdowns."We've lost a lot of close games that we just didn't pull through," Beckham said. "We know what situations we're in when we are in those close games. We just haven't found a way to pull them through. It's easy to sit up here and be like we want to win eight games knowing that it's very tough to do. You just got to pull it all together now."I know we're not in a very good situation, but you just got to make the most out of that."Beckham signed a five-year, $95 million contract, with approximately $65 million guaranteed, during training camp in August, so he's the new face of the franchise moving forward. He was asked if he felt he had any pressure to be the one who kick-starts the offense."Not any more than I ever have," said Beckham, who has caught 61 passes for 785 yards and two touchdowns this season. "Hopefully I can start catching some of these things and start taking them to the crib, making bigger plays. I put more on myself. Whatever happens is what's going to happen , but I know that my mentality is not going to be to quit. I'm not going to be out there not trying to go hard every play. Any chance that I get, that's just always how I'm going to be."Beckham was also asked if the Giants could eliminate some problems in scoring touchdowns once they get inside the opponent's 20-yard line."I think that any chance I get, and all of us get a chance to take something to the house, it's time to go," he said. "There's no more holding back, playing it safe, or waiting for the next play, because you don't know if you're going to have a next play, and that's just the mentality we have to take. Any chance I get now, and I catch one of these slants, there's no motion wasted. It's just got to be somebody has got to come catch me. You trust your training, you trust your speed 鈥?somebody has got to come catch me. I'm trying as much as I can to make these plays, explosive plays, and we all need to do that."Fellow wideout Sterling Shepard also recognizes his team's struggles in the red zone."Explosive plays are always good themselves, but if you can take them all the way, then that obviously is better for the team ," said Shepard, who has 40 receptions for 542 yards and two touchdowns. "You just take them as they come and some of them will pop, some of them won't, but an explosive play all around is good for the team. I think it's we're just not being assignment sound. I feel like one guy is always off or two guys off when we get into the red zone, and that can kill your chances of scoring."Beckham Jr. is befuddled why the Giants aren't scoring more."Not to say that the opportunities haven't been there, but they've been limited," he noted. But Beckham feels the tide is about to turn for him personally."I don't know, but towards the back end of the season, I feel like I do better," Beckham said. "As the season goes on, people's bodies start to break down. I really try to maintain and I really try to be better than I was in Week 1 or Week 10. I feel a lot stronger going in towards the back end of the season. I feel like I'm in the best shape of my life. Now, it's just time to do that."NOTES: Coming off a bye, the Giants had a full team at practice Friday. WR Jawill Davis (concussion), who had been out, returned to practice, so he will more than likely be the Giants' main return option on punts and kickoffs Monday. Starting LB Alec Ogletree (hamstring) returned to practice Color Rush Riley Dixon Jersey , as did OT Chad Wheeler (ankle). . "There's not a whole lot of film to watch on him, so we just have to have the mindset to get after him and get him out of a comfort zone."Giants news 9/22: Pat Shurmur, Giants trying to focus on this week With his team 0-2, New York Giants coach Pat Shurmur has been reminding his team to focus on the task at hand — getting ready for the Houston Texans — and not worry about the outside noise.“I think the important thing is just go through the process,” Shurmur said on Friday. “The message today was to make today the best Friday and keep going, keep moving. We feel good about the plan we put in place, now we’ve just got to go out and execute it.”Secondary coach not worried about JackrabbitCornerback Janoris Jenkins has given up long pass plays in each of the Giants’ first two games. Defensive back coach Lou Anarumo isn’t fretting about Jenkins, though.“I think that if you ask him and would it be one or two things at the line of scrimmage that he could’ve done better and I think that’s what kind of got him in a bad spot. You saw last week he stumbled out of his break and then really in the Jacksonville game was just more of an alignment issue so we’ve talked about it with him and worked on it,” Anarumo said. “He’s a guy that has had great success in this league and is a very competitive guy. He doesn’t want to give up anything so we’ve been working hard on that and he has and I think it won’t be an issue going forward.”Tyke Tolbert: “We will find you the ball”For the wide receivers to help the struggling Giants’ offense, wide receiver coach Tyke Tolbert said Friday he tells his group that “it’s just a matter of doing your job.”Tolbert was asked if Odell Beckham Jr. was frustrated after Sunday’s game when he caught four passes in nine targets.“I think Odell realizes that every time you’re open, the ball is not going to come your way. Again, my stress to him is keep getting open, we will find you the ball,?” Tolbert said. “Sometimes Color Rush Landon Collins Jersey , it doesn’t always work out the way we want it to. Sometimes it may not work out, sometimes it may work out two or three times in a game, or you’ll have a huge game and a lot of touchdowns were scored, a lot of points, and win a lot of games; but at some point in time, it’s going to click for all of us on offense, and when it does, it’s going to be something special to watch.”Around the Inter-Google Sterling Shepard knew Baker Mayfield was primed for thisBaker Mayfield didn’t look like a rookie. Giants vs. Jaguars: 5 questions Authentic Saquon Barkley Jersey , answers about Jacksonville We have been studying the Jacksonville Jaguars from a variety of angles this week. Today, let’s go right to the heart, right into Big Cat Country, for some information. Ryan O’Bleness answers our 5 questions about the Jaguars, whom the New York Giants face on Sunday.Ed: I will turn the tables with a question you asked me. What surprised you the most about how the Jaguars built their 53-man roster?Ryan: There weren’t a ton of surprises on the roster front, but I was happy to see Tre Herndon, an undrafted free agent out of Vanderbilt, make the squad. He was the only UDFA to make the initial 53-man roster and worked his tail off throughout training camp and the preseason. I was a little bit surprised to see tight end Ben Koyack -- who had the game winning touchdown reception in the playoff win against the Buffalo Bills -- get waived initially, but the Jaguars signed Austin Seferian-Jenkins and Niles Paul in the offseason. Koyack cleared waivers, however, so he will revert back to IR with some sort of undisclosed injury and have to miss the entire season. The Jags also chose to roll with only three running backs on the active roster, which is a little bit lighter than normal, but not all that shocking. Ed: Heading into Week 1, any injuries with Jacksonville that are concerning?Ryan: The Jaguars lost No. 1 wide receiver Marqise Lee (torn ACL) for the season during a preseason tilt with the Atlanta Falcons. This is the second season in a row that the top receiver (Allen Robinson in 2017) has gone down before the first quarter of the first regular season. game has even finished. I guess the silver lining there is that Jacksonville is a run-first team, and has other capable receivers on the roster. Outside of Lee -- knock on wood -- the Jags have been unusually lucky with injuries. The same injury luck was true last season, which helped Jacksonville achieve the success it had. The only notable injury on the active roster is with starting center Brandon Linder who suffered a knee injury in Week 2 of the preseason. With that said , Linder participated in practice on Monday and I expect that to continue throughout the week, so he should be good to go on Sunday. Ed: How do you see the Jalen Ramsey-Odell Beckham matchup playing out?Ryan: I’m really looking forward to seeing how this plays out. Odell Beckham is probably a top-three wide receiver in the league, while Jalen Ramsey is a surefire top-three cornerback, and possibly the best in the league at his position. I’m sure both players are going to make plays, but I also imagine the jawing between the two will be pretty intense. I think it will come down to which one can phase out the other one’s trash talk and just play their game. If I had to guess, I would say Ramsey gets the better of Beckham, and by that I mean limits his damage to something like three or four catches with zero touchdowns. Wouldn’t be surprised either way, though.4. If you could take ONE player not named Beckham off the Giants roster and put him in the Jacksonville lineup who would it be? Why?Ryan: Interesting question. I’ve always been a fan of Landon Collins, but the Jaguars are pretty set at both safety positions. A part of me also wanted the Jags to draft Will Hernandez early on in the process, but the Jags signed All-Pro Andrew Norwell at left guard in free agency, and A.J. Cann has looked much improved at right guard this preseason. So then, if I can’t have Beckham, I would take Sterling Shepard and see if he could give the Jaguars’ wide receiver corps a boost with Lee out for the year. I do like the young and talented players Jacksonville has there, but they are mostly unproven at this point and I would think Shepard could provide some stability. Ed: Are you a believer in Blake Bortles? I’m sure there are many who still wonder if the Jaguars can win big with him at quarterback.Ryan: I am, to a degree, a Bortles believer. With the caveat that I understand what Bortles is and I don’t have crazy expectations. The Jaguars want to play smash-mouth football and run the ball down your throat. The ball is often being taken out of Bortles’ hands , but you also have to deal with opposing teams putting eight men in the box at a higher rate than normal and will need to count on Blake to make plays sometimes. With all of that in mind, this team can win with Bortles, and that was proven last year. Bortles had a very nice playoff run last season, and has looked poised, confident and in better command of the offense throughout training camp. Another underrated aspect of Bortles’ game is his ability to make plays with his feet. He has had both good and bad moments in the preseason games. His teammates trust him, though, as he was named a captain this week. He seems to be in line to have the best season of his career, but it has always been Bortles’ inconsistencies that have caused his biggest issues. If he is able to limit turnovers, make better decisions and make throws in tough situations, then this team will go very far. His play is pivotal.Giants practice report, 8/14: A Detroit writer’s takeaways from today’s workouts Hey, Giants fans! My name is Jeremy Reisman and I’m the managing editor over at Pride of Detroit, the SB Nation blog for the Detroit Lions. I’m here at the request of your glorious leader Ed Valentine to bring you personal observations from Tuesday’s joint practices between the Lions and Giants. While I’m sure many of you know the Giants a little better than I do, I think I’ll be able to put the Giants’ performance into context in a unique way, considering I know a lot about the players they’re going against. With that in mind, and a little guidance as to what may interest you , here are some observations from Tuesday’s practice about the Giants, but from a Lions point of view.Slay vs. BeckhamLet’s be honest, you were going to skip to this section first, so I may as well lead with it. We’ve seen Odell Beckham Jr. and Darius Slay face off twice before, but both matchups underwhelmed. In the first, Slay left the game in the first half with an injury. In the second, Beckham was coming off an injury of his own and didn’t quite look like himself.Tuesday, both looked full speed, and I must admit, Beckham got the better of Slay. The 2017 Pro Bowl cornerback has looked unbeatable in all of training camp, but it’s clear he hasn’t been lined up against anyone the likes of Beckham. Odell wasn’t completely dominant, but he consistently had a step on Slay and Eli Manning was able to find him more often than not. Also, during individual drills Beckham roasted rookie undrafted free agent Chris Jones for a bomb, which isn’t a nice thing to do to a guy with no chance of making the team.Kyle Lauletta getting the rookie treatmentI heard y’all have a backup quarterback battle brewing, and nothing grabs more headlines than a backup QB battle.Well, on Tuesday , it didn’t look like much of a battle. It’s not that Kyle Lauletta looked bad—he didn’t. It’s that the Giants barely gave him a shot. During one-one-one drills, Lauletta was busy checking down to running backs against linebackers, while Eli and Davis Webb were throwing bombs to the wide receivers vs. corners. And when it came to full 11-on-11 drills, I could count the amount of reps for Lauletta on two hands. Toward the end of practice, each team (first, second, and third) got a single drive against the opposing defense. Lauletta didn’t even get a full drive. He split it with Alex Tanney. As for Webb, he had a very inconsistent day. He threw a couple deep dimes during the one-on-ones, but when it came to the full 11-on-11s, he looked much more uncomfortable. He sailed a handful of passes Tuesday, and when the Lions came with an A-gap blitz, you could see the panic in Webb, as he sailed a pass well over the receiver’s head and was nearly intercepted. It’s hard for me to give an honest review of Lauletta at this point in considering the very limited sample size, but it’s clear to me the Giants coaching staff isn’t ready to hand the fourth-round rookie too many responsibilities at this point.Saquon looks fineI’m no doctor, but I wouldn’t expect Saquon Barkley to miss any time once the regular season rolls around. Though he obviously didn’t practice on Tuesday, he did just about everything else the coaches would let him. He was even sporting pants and a helmet—missing only the shoulder pads. You can see above , he went through the motions of position drills early in the day before taking the rest of practice off.Overall thoughtsWhile I’m not going to sit here and tell you Team A was better than Team B, I will say that the Giants were able to control the line of scrimmage on both sides of the ball when the first teams were facing off. Jonathan Stewart seemed to slip through considerably-sized holes on a fairly regular basis. While that isn’t all that surprising from Detroit’s point of view—the Lions’ front seven is the team’s biggest weakness—it’s definitely good news for the Giants. When the Lions had the ball, the trenches were a little more evenly matched. Though the Lions running game continued to struggle, Matthew Stafford sat pretty comfortably in the pocket for much of the day. However, when it the second and third teams took the field, it was clear the Lions’ offensive line depth was no match for the Giants’ defensive line depth. However, the Lions’ skill position evened out the day. Marvin Jones Jr. and Kenny Golladay made some impressive catches over Eli Apple and Curtis Riley. Additionally, the Lions running backs—specifically Theo Riddick and rookie Kerryon Johnson—were giving Giants linebackers fits in the passing game. To be fair, those guys have been embarrassing Lions linebackers all camp, too.As for Eli Manning, I came away more impressed than not. He has a pretty clear command of the offense and looked decisive and comfortable the entire day. Perhaps it was just the juxtaposition next to Webb, but there was a certain command to the offense when Manning was in that made the Giants look efficient. The same can’t be said when Webb was i.However, Manning’s day ended with a poor read on a two-minute drill, leading to an interception by Lions safety Glover Quin. That’s the Eli Manning I know.If you want my Lions observations from Tuesday’s practice, head over to Pride of Detroit. Our thanks to Jeremy for the extra work he has done for us here. Hope you all appreciate it.

a better time to play the New York Giants. The NFC East-leading Redskins (4-2) have won two straight Authentic D.J. Swearinger Jersey , are coming off a big win over Dallas, and now face a team that's seen its management trade cornerback Eli Apple and defensive tackle Damon Harrison ?two starters ?for late-round draft picks in the week leading to Tuesday's NFL trading deadline. It's clearly a housecleaning as the Giants (1-6) struggle through a second straight dismal season. How the Giants react remains to be seen. The bottom line is the Redskins should be licking their chops heading into Sunday's game at MetLife Stadium. New York has lost four in a row and won four times in 23 games over the last two seasons.Washington left tackle Trent Williams is wary, insisting the so-called easy game might be a distraction."You're going through so much that football is your sanctuary," Williams said of the Giants. "Football is where you kind of go to let off frustration. We can go in there and look at them from an outside perspective and say, 'All right, they're going through a lot. They should easily lay down and let us win this game.'"In reality, no matter what they're going through, playing on Sunday can fix everything. When your building is on fire and you win, it kind of puts it off for a second."The Giants were adamant in saying they will show up Sunday."We're not throwing in the towel at all," said B.W. Webb Authentic Montae Nicholson Jersey , who will probably replace Apple. "That's disrespectful to us players. We don't go into any game thinking we are just going to throw it away. We fight every week for our families, our kids and each other. It's disrespectful when we hear that, that someone says we are tanking or something like that."Some things to watch on Sunday:ALL DAY, NOT EVERY DAYAdrian Peterson still is producing at age 33, with four games of at least 95 yards rushing, and 10th in the NFL with 438 yards despite dealing with shoulder and knee injuries. With a career total of 12,714 entering Sunday, the guy nicknamed "AD" 鈥?as in "All Day" 鈥?needs only 26 to surpass Tony Dorsett and move into ninth in league history. In a nod to Peterson's age and health, coach Jay Gruden is giving his starting running back Wednesdays off. "The crazy thing is, I don't like it. I'd rather be out there Womens Mason Foster Jersey , practicing with those guys. But (I'm) being smart: I've been around for a long time. I think I've paid my dues," Peterson said.TRADE AFTERMATHThe trades of Apple to the Saints and Harrison to the Lions create opportunities for Webb and tackle Dalvin Tomlinson. Webb has been the Giants' nickel back. He probably will start at cornerback, like he did when Apple missed a game in Houston with a groin injury. Coincidently, the Giants won. Tomlinson has been in the rotation at tackle. He probably will start with rookie B.J. Hill. With Harrison gone, the Skins are sure to test them with Peterson.WATCHING SAQUONJust like everyone else who watches football, Peterson has been impressed by Giants rookie RB Saquon Barkley. "From what I've seen so far, he shows some God-given ability. Great patience. His lower-body strength and balance is amazing. He flows," Peterson said. "I always sit back and watch young guys when they come in, and he's one of those guys that really excites me."O LINEThe Giants thought they solved their offensive line problems signing left tackle Nate Solder and guard Pat Omameh as free agents and drafting guard Will Hernandez in the second round. Despite having Barkley in the backfield, the Giants rank 30th in rushing and Eli Manning has been sacked 24 times. Solder and Hernandez have struggled on the left side the past two weeks. Expect the Redskins to probe there.Giants coach Pat Shurmur expects to use the same combination as last week Womens Jamison Crowder Jersey , with Spencer Pulley starting at center and John Greco at right guard. Chad Wheeler is the right tackle.ALABAMA WALLSafety D.J. Swearinger has nicknamed defensive linemen Jonathan Allen and Daron Payne "the Alabama Wall," and that duo 鈥?first-round draft picks the past two years after starring for the Crimson Tide 鈥?is a big part of Washington's sudden ability to stop the run. The Redskins are giving up 87.3 yards on the ground each game, third in the NFL.One key: Washington is one of two clubs (Minnesota is the other) not to allow a 20-yard run this season. Last season, Washington owned the worst run defense in the NFL, allowing 134.1 yards per game.AP Pro Football Writer Howard Fendrich contributed to this report. As Washington scrambles to beef up a quarterback depth chart that will be headlined by Colt McCoy for as long as he’s healthy enough to play, many are wondering whether Washington will consider Colin Kaepernick. They won’t be.Per a league source, Kaepernick hasn’t received an invitation to the Gong Show tryout that reportedly will happen on Monday, with EJ Manuel, T.J. Yates, and Mark Sanchez among the candidates identified by Adam Schefter of ESPN.Another source tells PFT that team president Bruce Allen previously has made clear within the organization his position that Kaepernick won’t be signed by Washington , ever. Allen is a political conservative, which would make Kaepernick and his habit of protesting during the national anthem something that Allen wouldn’t be inclined to embrace, ever.So even though Washington quarterbacks coach Kevin O’Connell served on the last coaching staff in San Francisco that had Kaepernick on the roster, Kaepernick won’t be on the Washington roster, barring a dramatic change of heart by Allen — or a direct order from owner Daniel Snyder that having someone who possibly could help push a 6-4 start toward a finish atop the division outweighs all non-football considerations. • liny ha creado el nuevo tema » Defensive end Stacy McGee returned to practice for en los foros.
the Washington Redskins on Wednesday after missing the first six weeks of the season on the physically unable to perform list.McGee was placed on the PUP list at the start of training camp and moved to the reserve/PUP list for the start of the season due to a groin injury sustained in the spring. McGee had surgery in June after sustaining the injury during OTAs. He can practice for up to 21 days before needing to be added to the active roster.McGee appeared in all 16 games for Washington last season and made 10 starts after signing a five-year deal worth up to $25 million last March. He recorded 44 tackles in his first season with the Redskins after playing his first four seasons with the Oakland Raiders. The team does have an open roster spot following the release of Ziggy Hood this week , which could facilitate McGee’s return to the lineup this week if he’s able to get back up to speed with just a few days of practice. This was all kinds of embarrassing for the Washington Redskins, from the offense to the defense to the special teams, from the poor plays to the face-palm penalties, from the numbers on the scoreboard to the thousands of empty seats in the stands.Facing a last-place team that had nothing to play for 鈥?but appeared to have more fans in the stadium Sunday than the home team did 鈥?coach Jay Gruden's Redskins dropped their fourth consecutive game to fall below .500 with a 40-16 loss to the New York Giants.Asked whether he's concerned about his job status, Gruden replied: "My job's in jeopardy every week. So I've just got to go about and do the best I can, get these guys ready to go, and we'll continue to do that."Third-string quarterback Mark Sanchez, playing for Washington (6-7) because of injuries to Alex Smith and Colt McCoy , made his first NFL start since 2015 and played like it, going 6 for 14 for 38 yards and two interceptions, including a pick-6."It was tough sledding, for sure," Sanchez said. "That's easy to figure out."The score was 40-0 in the third quarter when Gruden yanked Sanchez, whose passer rating was 10.7 and whose longest completion went for 10 yards.A reporter wanted to know what Gruden thought "went wrong" for Sanchez."What DID work?" came Gruden's answer. "There was nothing that worked. Nothing worked. So everything did not work."Sanchez was replaced by another recently unemployed player, Josh Johnson, who threw his first NFL pass since 2011 and helped the hosts score all of their points in garbage time. Gruden said after the game he would prepare Johnson to start next week at Jacksonville. The Redskins were guilty of two penalties on the initial punt of the game by New York (5- , setting a pattern: Washington was flagged 15 times for 135 yards."Unacceptable," said defensive back and punt returner Greg Stroman. There was a 5-yarder on Washington's offense for having 12 men in the huddle early. Right tackle Morgan Moses was called twice for false starts in the first half, giving him 12 accepted penalties this season, the most for any player in the league. Late, after a 31-yard pass from Johnson to Josh Doctson would have set up Washington with a first-and-goal at the 3, the receiver was penalized 15 yards for taunting a defender. On the very next play, Johnson was picked off. Then, with the Giants about to punt on fourth-and-3 , Washington had 12 men on the field for the punt, so New York got to keep the ball. There were boos repeatedly from a crowd listed at 57,347 鈥?about 25,000 under the stadium's capacity 鈥?and all the blue Giants jerseys in the stands made it "feel like we're at home" to New York linebacker Alec Ogletree.Competing against a Redskins offensive line that included four tackles and an injured center, a mediocre Giants pass rush that entered the game with 19 sacks 鈥?an average of about 1陆 per game 鈥?already was up to five for the day after Washington's first possession of the second half.A so-so Giants offense that was missing star receiver Odell Beckham Jr. did whatever it wanted most times it had the ball and put up 34 points by halftime, only four fewer than its previous highest total for an entire game this season.Rookie running back Saquon Barley gained 170 yards on only 14 carries, including a 78-yard TD, plus added another 27 yards on four catches. Eli Manning , written off by many earlier this year, looked quite competent, completing 14 of 22 passes for 197 yards and three touchdowns before taking the fourth quarter off."It's tough to deal with. It really is. It's unfortunate," Gruden said. "That product we put on the field today is not a reflection of the guys' work during the week and in practice. However, it did look bad."Follow Howard Fendrich on Twitter at ://HowardFendrich Custom Oakland Raiders Jerseys
